HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. – Warner Robins police arrested two people after a stabbing Thursday night led to a hourslong standoff with a suspect barricaded inside a home, authorities said.

Officers were called to a residence in the 500 block of King Richard Drive around 10:40 p.m. Jan. 8 after a report of a stabbing. When officers arrived, they found the victim suffering from a stab wound to the abdomen, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment and is listed in stable condition.

Investigators said the suspected attacker, identified as 28-year-old Joshua Phillips, remained inside the home and refused to come out. Officers also learned that 23-year-old Breanna Durant and two children were inside the residence at the time.

Because of the seriousness of the incident and the presence of other people inside the home, police called in the department’s Crisis Negotiations Team and SWAT to assist with de-escalation efforts.

After more than four hours of negotiations, Phillips was taken into custody around 2:58 a.m. without further incident, police said.

Phillips was charged with aggravated assault, obstruction and outstanding warrants. Durant was charged with hindering apprehension and two counts of second-degree cruelty to children, according to police.

Authorities said the incident was not domestic-related, noting that the victim and Phillips are friends or acquaintances.

The Warner Robins Police Department said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges are pending. Anyone with information is asked to contact Warner Robins police or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
