RABUN COUNTY, Ga. – A former Rabun County Schools support employee was arrested last week after the district reported concerns about his conduct involving a minor, prompting a sheriff’s office investigation.
Daniel Guevara, of Tiger, was taken into custody on Nov. 14 and charged with grooming a minor for a sexual offense, according to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office and county jail records. He was booked into the Rabun County Detention Center, where he remained for four days before being released on a $20,000 bond.
According to investigators, the charge stems from a tip that began when Rabun County Schools alerted authorities to an allegation connected to Guevara, who worked for the district in a non-instructional role. School officials said they immediately notified law enforcement, terminated his employment, and issued a criminal trespass notice barring him from district property. They said they also cooperated fully with investigators throughout the process.
The sheriff’s office said the allegation was handled with “serious urgency” and credited the district’s swift response with helping maintain student safety during the investigation. Deputies said there is no indication of any ongoing or immediate threat to other students. However, investigators are still reviewing whether additional individuals may have been affected and are encouraging anyone with relevant information to contact the sheriff’s office.
Authorities said they are attempting to balance transparency with the need to protect the integrity of the active investigation.
Several details about the case remain unclear, including what specifically led to the allegation, how long the concern existed before it was reported, and whether any electronic communications were involved. Investigators have not released the age of the minor or disclosed when the alleged contact occurred, and they have not said whether any evidence was recovered from Guevara’s home or devices.
