FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – Rapper Rod Wave is back behind bars in Fulton County after he was arrested Friday night in Atlanta on multiple drug and firearm charges, according to jail records.
The 26-year-old Florida artist, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was taken into custody by Atlanta Police and booked into the Fulton County Jail. Records show he faces four charges: possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit certain felonies, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, reckless driving, and possession of a Schedule V controlled substance.
Green appeared before a judge Saturday morning, where his bond was set at $8,000.
The arrest marks the second time this year the “Heart on Ice” rapper has faced criminal charges in Georgia.
In May, Green turned himself in to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on more than a dozen warrants stemming from an April 21 police call in Milton, north of Atlanta. Those charges included aggravated assault, conspiracy to commit a felony, criminal damage to property, pointing or aiming a gun at someone, obstruction, and tampering with evidence.
A police report from that incident described a chaotic scene. Officers responding to a possible domestic disturbance found luxury vehicles riddled with bullet holes and evidence of a break-in. A gold Mercedes SUV had several bullet holes, a black Rolls-Royce had one, and a large safe inside the home had been emptied and dragged across the floor. Officers also discovered a broken window and a handgun near the backyard pool.
Green’s attorneys, Drew Findling and Marissa Goldberg, said at the time that their client was not a suspect but rather the victim of a burglary. “Rod Green was a victim of a burglary and committed no crimes,” they said in a statement to the Associated Press. “How he was even charged as a result of this situation is incomprehensible. This will absolutely be resolved favorably to Mr. Green.”
Authorities have not said whether the latest arrest is connected to the April case.
Rod Wave rose to prominence for his soulful, emotional blend of rap and R&B, earning 11 platinum singles and four No. 1 albums on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop chart. His latest album, “Last Lap,” was released earlier this year, and he contributed the song “Sinners” to Ryan Coogler’s hit film of the same name.
Green previously faced legal trouble in Florida in 2022 when he was charged with domestic battery after an ex-girlfriend accused him of choking her during an argument at her Orlando-area home while their two children were nearby. Prosecutors later dismissed the case, saying it was not suitable for prosecution.
Atlanta police have not released additional details about the substances or weapon involved in the latest arrest.
