Dade County – The killer in the 1988 murder of 19-year-old Stacey Lyn Chahorski was recently identified through DNA. A genealogical profile was created by Othram lab and the FBI, at the request of GBI investigators.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said, in a September 6 press release, that Stacey’s killer had been identified as Henry Fredrick Wise. Wise worked as a truck driver and a stunt driver at the time of her murder.

Wise burned to death in a stunt driving accident at the Myrtle Beach Speedway in 1999.

At the time of Stacey’s death, Wise drove a truck route between Chattanooga, Birmingham, and Nashville. He had a criminal history in Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina.

Stacey’s body was discovered on interstate 59 in Dade County, FL on December 18, 1988. She was reported missing in Norton Shores, Michigan in January 1989.

The Dade County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation worked together to identify Stacey’s body in March 2022 and were able to identify her killer in September.
