Warning: The following story contains information regarding sexual violence against children.

Update: On April 15, 2024, Floyd County Superior Court Judge Bryan Johnson granted Acrey a $15,000 bond. According to his bond conditions, he is to have no contact with the victim in this case or any contact with any minor child under 18 years old or anyone incapable of giving consent due to emotional or mental issues. FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – On April 4, 2024, police arrested a 27-year-old Rome man for sexually abusing his three-year-old son. Josh Colton Acrey faces charges of sexual battery against a child under 16 years old, aggravated sexual battery, and two counts of aggravated child molestation. Acrey was previously charged with rape in 2021.

According to reports, Acrey used a foreign object to penetrate the three-year-old boy’s anus at a Gray Rock Drive home in May 2023, leaving scarring. He also allegedly pinched and bit the child’s penis and forced him to lick his (Acrey’s) penis.

It is unknown how long the abuse had been occurring before the child told his mother.

In April 2021, Acrey was arrested in Gordon County for raping a woman twice. The district attorney pushed for a plea bargain, and Acrey’s charge was reduced from rape to sexual battery, for which he received probation.

In July 2020, Acrey was also charged with simple battery and simple battery – family violence in Gordon County. The outcome of that case is unknown at this time.

Acrey is set to appear in Floyd County Superior Court on Monday, April 15, 2024, at 9:00 AM for a bond hearing.

This case is currently pending in court. Updates will be provided as they become available.
