Warning: The following report describes alleged sexual violence.
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. – Police arrested a 27-year-old man, Edward Samuel Huffman, on Friday, September 13, 2024, after an investigation determined that he allegedly drugged and raped numerous women and then posted videos of the abuse online for profit. Clayton County police Major Frank Thomas stated, “There are so many victims, and once things are put on the Internet, they don’t go away. It’s there forever.”
Huffman, deemed a serial rapist, stands accused of drugging, raping, and sodomizing at least seven women and sharing recorded footage of the attacks on an online pornography website, as well as molesting a child he supervised. He was charged with sexual battery, sodomy, sharing nude/sexually explicit images of others without their consent, and seven counts of rape and remains detained at the Clayton County Jail.
Authorities said he denied the allegations until various pieces of evidence were presented. He then admitted to the crimes of which he had been charged and the child molestation, but police are still working to identify additional victims dating back to 2021. Details about the drugs used have not been released.
Major Thomas said Huffman’s case is unlike any other the department has ever received. Some of the victims thought of Huffman as a friend, and many were unaware of the rapes until the videos surfaced online.
An investigation began on Monday, September 9, 2024, when two women reported being raped by the suspect. One victim explained that her friend informed her of an online video showing her being sexually assaulted while unconscious. The victim found more online videos of Huffman assaulting her and her friends while drugged.
Police explained that he used a fake name online and met with several victims in different states; however, most women knew him through school or social events.
Thomas stated, “The majority of victims considered Huffman to be a friend and provided similar counts of being at social functions hosted by Huffman. Each victim advised that after being in Huffman’s presence, they did recall being asleep for an unusual amount of time but did not suspect that he harmed them in any way.”
Huffman appeared in court on Thursday, September 19, 2024, and declined the reading aloud of his extensive list of charges. Clayton Magistrate Court Judge John Parker informed him that bond cannot be granted on felony charges and scheduled his preliminary hearing for Wednesday, October 16, 2024.
