Student arrested for stalking Jones County High School teacher, masturbating in front of her

JONES COUNTY, Ga. – On March 21, 2024, a Jones County Sheriff’s deputy arrested an 18-year-old male for stalking a teacher and masturbating in front of her. Christopher Garey, a Gray resident, faces charges of stalking and misdemeanor public indecency.

The deputy met with the Jones County High School principal to discuss the incident that occurred the day prior. The principal handed him a written statement from the victim explaining that she received an email from Garey, whom she did not recognize, asking to sit in her classroom after school to finish some work.

Because she did not know Garey and had to attend a meeting, she did not reply to his email. Another teacher approached, showed her a photograph of Garey, and said he was looking for her.

The deputy reviewed security footage that revealed Garey walking by the victim’s classroom and peering in several times. When she exited the room and walked up the stairs, he followed.

She returned to the room, and approximately 45 minutes later, he stood in the doorway and fondled himself. She left the classroom again; however, this time, Garey stepped into the room and dimmed the lights.

He walked up the stairs and then returned to the classroom just seconds before the teacher entered. About 10 minutes later, she exited the classroom with Garey walking behind her.

She quickened her pace as he followed her with his penis out. She vacated the building, and Garey stopped in the hallway.

He continued to masturbate until he ejaculated on the floor and then washed his hands in the water fountain.

The victim stated that Garey attempted to get her to return to the room by claiming he left his phone in her office.

After securing warrants, the deputy and a sergeant arrested Garey at his Lite N Tie Road residence. This case is pending in court.

At approx 0830 hrs I was called by Mr [REDACTED], the principal of the Jones County High School and advised to come to his office.

When I arrived at his office he gave me a paper with a statement that was from a teacher, Mrs. [VICTIM #1] in reference to an incident that had happened on 3-20-24, the previous day at the school. She stated that she had recieved an email from Christopher asking to sit in her room after school and finish some work. She advised that she did not know Christopher and had a beta meeting after school so she didn’t reply.

She advised that Mrs [REDACTED] also a teacher had told her someone was looking for her and showed her Christophers picture but she still didnt recognize him.

On the school security camera you could see Christopher come in the lower C Hall entrance door at approx 1531 hrs. He goes to the boys bathroom on C Hall lower then comes out and walks by Mrs [VICTIM #1]’ room looking in the room. Walks pass classroom several times peeking into the classroom. Teacher leaves room a couple of times walking up north stairwell of C Hall and Christopher follows.

At approx 1616 hrs he stands at the doorway looking in and appears to be fondling himself. At approx 1629 hrs teacher leaves classroom and heads to north stairwell. Christopher steps into classrtoom and dims the lights. At approx 1632 hrs he walks to the stairwell walks to upper level and looks around.

At approx 1634 hrs he goes back down the steps and goes to Mrs [VICTIM #1]’ classroom. He enters the room at approx 1635 hrs. Mrs. [VICTIM #1] enters the classroom seconds later. At approx 1647 hrs Mrs [VICTIM #1] is seen walking out the door with Christopher walking behind her. You can clearly see that Christopher has his pe*is out while following her. They both head south on C Hall lower. Mrs [VICTIM #1] keeps walking it appears at a swift pace and Christopher follows her still with his pe*is out. She leaves the building but he stops in the hallway and continues to mast*rbate. He ejaculates on the floor then washes his hands in the water fountain/sink in the hallway.

Mrs [VICTIM #1] advised that he was trying to get her to return to her room by saying that he left his phone in her office. At approx 0952 hrs on 3-21-24 I questioned Mrs [VICTIM #1] in the front confe5rence room. Mr [REDACTED] and Mr [REDACTED] were also present. This interview was recorded on my bodycam and work phone.

I went to the Sheriff Office and typed up 2 warrants for this case. Stalking and public indecency. I attempted top make contact for arrest at [100 BLOCK] Sage Street but the house was vacant. I learned that the family had moved to [300 BLOCK] Lite N Tie Rd so myself and Sgt Hunt #529 made contact with Christopher at this address where he was placed under arrest.

I placed him in handcuffs behind his back checked for fitness and placed him in the back of my patrol unit and fastened his seatbelt. He at first said he wanted to say something so I gave him his miranda rights. But he never said anything. I transported him to the Jones County LEC where I read both warrants to him. I turned over custody to the detention staff and went back in service at approx 1330 hrs.
