EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ga. – An Effingham County Sheriff’s Deputy was involved in a head-on collision, after a high-speed chase. Around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, a 16-year-old stole a vehicle from a home on Zittrouer Road and led deputies on a high-speed chase.
As the chase continued, the juvenile went through the roundabout at Highway 17 and Blue Jay Road and collided head-on into a Sergeant’s patrol car.
The Sergeant sustained minor injuries. He was taken to the hospital and treated, then later released.
The juvenile was taken to the Youth Detention Center and is being charged with Aggravated Assault a on Law Enforcement Officer, Theft, Fleeing, Reckless Driving, and Speeding.
