Naussau County, FL – (October 8, 2022) A 5-year-old and a teenager were each shot by the other’s father on Route 1 during a road rage incident north of Jacksonville, FL. The fathers of both girls were charged with ‘attempted murder.’

The 5-year-old daughter of William Hale, of Douglas, GA, was shot by Frank Allison, of Florida, who fired a single round from a Sig Sauer .45 caliber handgun into Hale’s Dodge Ram. Hale fired several shots back at Allison’s vehicle from a Glock 9mm, striking Allison’s 14-year-old daughter in the back and collapsing her lung.

The men were arrested after pulling over near a police officer and fighting outside of their vehicles. Allison later claimed he fired the single shot, striking the 5-year-old girl, to get away from the other vehicle.

Hale chased Allison’s Nissan Murano after realizing his daughter was shot and fired all of the rounds in his gun into the Murano.

Naussau County Sheriff Bill Leeper spoke of the incident during a press conference, saying, “sometimes people do stupid things and they don’t think of the consequences until later.” Sheriff Leeper spent the latter half of the press conference providing safe driving tips and signs of aggressive driving.

Hale and Allison were booked into the Naussau County Jail and released on bond. Both girls were taken to the hospital by Naussau County Fire Rescue with non-life threatening injuries.
