COBB COUNTY, Ga. – An Atlanta CVS has since opened after a group of burglars destroyed its entrance in a failed attempt to steal an ATM from inside. A Cobb County Police Department spokesperson revealed that officers responded to the Powers Ferry Road store at approximately 3:00 AM on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, but the suspects had already fled.
Employees who observed the incident on security footage said a U-Haul truck rammed the front entrance and smashed through, ripping the doors and door frame almost entirely off the building. Four men then exited the vehicle and tried to abscond with the ATM.
Police said the suspects tried to move the machine using a large chain, which was later found in the parking lot, but were unsuccessful. The offenders left the damaged USAA ATM overturned near the doorway.
A customer who visited the pharmacy later that morning, stated, “They took so much effort to just grab the ATM.” Another witness said, “They just tore it up and left with nothing.”
Descriptions of the suspects and the truck have not yet been released.
This investigation is active and ongoing. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Cobb County Police Department at 770-499-4183.
