The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office on May 13, 2024:
PAULDING COUNTY, Ga. – On Thursday, May 2nd, 2024, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force, the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division, and Haralson County Sheriff’s Office deputies executed a search warrant at 2391 McGarity Rd, Temple, GA. The search came as a result of a two month-long drug investigation by the Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force.
During the search, over 1000 grams of methamphetamine, along with various amounts of cocaine, ecstasy, MDEA, psilocybin mushrooms, and marijuana were located in the residence which belonged to Gerry Edwards. Forty-seven firearms were also located in the residence and seized by Agents.
Gerry Edwards, 39 years of age, was arrested on scene and charged with Trafficking Methamphetamine, two counts of Possession of a Schedule 1 narcotic, Possession of Amphetamines, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
Reana Phelps, a 32-year-old female living in the residence, was also arrested on scene, and charged with Possession of Methamphetamine.
Paulding County Sheriff Gary Gulledge stated, “Through cooperation with our state and local partners, we’re able to work together to get these harmful substances off of our streets, dangerous weapons out of the hands of criminals, and put dealers like this in jail. We’re thankful for the efforts of all our law enforcement officers and their dedication to making sure our community remains a safe place to live.”
The Northwest Georgia Drug Task Force, which is managed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, is located in Dallas, Georgia and services Haralson, Polk, and Paulding Counties. The Task Force is comprised of members from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office, Tallapoosa Police Department, Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Polk County Police Department, Cedartown Police Department, Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, Dallas Police Department, and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
