Hall County (April 3, 2023) – Fire crews found two men dead near a power substation in Gainesville around 3 AM while responding to a fire from a blown transformer. It is believed that the pair was electrocuted while attempting to break into the substation.
The men were found at the substation on Atlanta Highway behind Liquid Nation Brewing.
According to reports, then men were trespassing on the property where they cut through a fence so that they could gain access to the substation and ended up being shocked to death. Witnesses say police found a backpack nearby that may belong to the men, who apparently were trying to break into the substation to commit a burglary when they were killed by accidental electrocution. It is unknown what the men were trying to steal.
The men were described as middle-aged and white. They remain unidentified. The bodies were taken to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, where autopsies will be performed.
