The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Athens-Clarke County Police Department:
On October 28, 2022, at approximately 12:30 AM, ACCPD Officers heard multiple gunshots while patrolling in the Jefferson Road area. At about the same time, ACCPD Communication Officers received a Shots Fired call in the area of Kathwood Drive and Rolling Ridge Drive. Officers arrived at the 100 block of Rolling Ridge Drive, located two gunshot wound victims, and provided life-saving care to the victims.
EMS responded and transported the victims to a local hospital – a 17-year-old male from Athens had serious injuries, and a 20-year-old female from Athens was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
