DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ga. – Former Kansas City Chiefs and New York Giants wide receiver Kadarius Toney was arrested on February 6, 2025, in Douglas County, Georgia on charges stemming from a domestic violence incident, according to law enforcement records.
Authorities issued an arrest warrant for Toney on January 15 after a woman called 911 the day before, reporting that Toney had assaulted her. The woman, who identified herself as Toney’s girlfriend, told the 911 dispatcher that she was seven months pregnant and alleged that Toney strangled her, making it difficult for her to breathe.
She also stated that she and Toney lived together and that she ran to a neighbor’s house to call for help. Toney faces charges including aggravated assault by strangulation and obstructing or harassing a 911 call.
Toney was released on $50,000 bail following his arrest.
Toney, 26, was the No. 20 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Giants. He was later traded to the Chiefs, where he was part of two Super Bowl-winning teams in 2022 and 2023. In Super Bowl LVII, he set a record for the longest punt return in Super Bowl history with a 65-yard return. He did not play in Super Bowl LVIII due to injuries.
The Chiefs released Toney before the 2024 season. He briefly joined the Cleveland Browns before being waived in December after appearing in three games.
The case remains under investigation.
