Houston County (November 19, 2022) – Police were called to a home on Silver Circle after a man called police stating that his wife, Amber Brown, had beaten him with a baseball bat and struck him in the back of the head with a frying pan during an argument.

When police arrived on the scene, they met with the husband and mother of Brown, who witnessed the attack. Brown was no longer on the scene, as she had gone to the hospital for an injury to her hand sustained during the fight.

According to the husband, he had been working in the yard and had come inside to make himself something to eat when a fight erupted between him and his wife. He stated Brown was angry about the children going to his dad’s for Thanksgiving.

During the argument, he tried to remove himself from the situation and go to the bedroom, but Brown followed him, picking up a bat and destroying the bedroom. He grabbed the bat to try and stop her, but she started hitting him with the bat. He pinned her to the ground to stop her from hitting him before getting up to leave the home.

While trying to leave, Brown came up behind him and struck him in the back of the head with a black frying pan.

Police witnessed damage around the house. They noted glass was on the floor, a broken picture on the wall, and the pot sitting inside the sink. They also located the blue aluminum bat used in the assault on a pillow inside the bedroom.

Brown’s mother, who had moved in with the couple to help with their two autistic children, believes Brown needs a mental evaluation and stated she has a mental breakdown every year around this time. She confirmed that Brown hit her husband in the back of the head with the pot. When asked if the husband hit Brown in return during the altercation, she stated he did not.

When police were leaving home, one of the children ran up to them saying, “mommy hurt daddy,” and asking if “daddy was ok.” It was determined that the child witnessed the incident and ran into the bedroom in fear during the altercation.

Once released from the hospital, Brown was arrested by police. Brown has been charged with aggravated assault and cruelty to children. This case is currently pending in court.

On Saturday, November 19, 2022, I, Deputy B. Durham, responded to [300 BLOCK] Silver Cir in reference to a domestic.

Once I arrived on the scene, I contacted [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] inside the residence’s garage. [VICTIM #1] said his wife, Amber Brown, struck him in the back of the head with a black pot and hit him with a bat. I asked [VICTIM #1] where did Amber go since she had left the residence. [VICTIM #1] said Amber went to the hospital because she had an injury to her left hand. At that time, I asked Deputy Craig to go to the hospital to make contact with Amber.

I asked [VICTIM #1] what caused the altercation between him and her. [VICTIM #1] said he had been working in the yard and came inside to fix him something to eat, and Amber was on the phone with someone (unknown identification). [VICTIM #1] said Amber came to the kitchen and started yelling at him, saying their children were not going to his dad’s house for Thanksgiving. [VICTIM #1] said that is how the argument started between them.

[VICTIM #1] said he told Amber that not going to his dad’s house was not an option. He said that he went to the bedroom, and Amber followed him. [VICTIM #1] said Amber picked up a bat and started to destroy the bedroom. [VICTIM #1] said he tried to prevent Amber from destroying the bedroom, but she tried to hit him with the bat. [VICTIM #1] said he grabbed the bat and placed Amber on the ground to prevent her from hitting him anymore. [VICTIM #1] said he got up and tried to leave the residence.

[VICTIM #1] said while he tried to leave, Amber came behind him and struck him with a black frying pan in the back of the head. [VICTIM #1] was check out by EMS but refused to seek medical treatment. I asked [VICTIM #1] to show me where the incident took place. [VICTIM #1] and I walked inside the residence. As we were walking, I observed the stove having damaged, and the black pot was inside the sink.

As we walked to the bedroom, I observed glass on the floor, a broken picture on the left wall, and a blue aluminum bat on a pillow. I informed [VICTIM #1] that I would take pictures of the damage inside the bedroom. I walked out of the bedroom and walked back to the garage. While returning to my vehicle, I stopped in the garage and spoke to [WITNESS #1].

[WITNESS #1] informed me that she was Amber’s mother. [WITNESS #1] said she moved in with them to help Amber with their two autistic children. [WITNESS #1] said around this time of the year, Amber starts to have a mental breakdown. [WITNESS #1] said Amber hit [VICTIM #1] in the back of the head with a pot. I asked [WITNESS #1] if [VICTIM #1] hit Amber during the altercation. [WITNESS #1] said no, he did not. [WITNESS #1] said Amber needs to have a mental evaluation.

I informed [WITNESS #1] how to get an evaluation request through the court system. I walked to my patrol vehicle to get my camera. While I was in my patrol vehicle, Deputy Craig and Mixon informed me that Amber was in the hospital. I informed Deputy Mixon and Craig that I would be en route to the hospital after I took my photos. I returned to the residence and took pictures of the damages.

As I was leaving the residence, [REDACTED] walked into the kitchen and said mommy hurt daddy and asked if his dad was ok. I asked [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] if any of the kids witnessed this incident. [WITNESS #1] said yes because [REDACTED] ran inside the bedroom. I asked [VICTIM #1] if I could speak with [REDACTED] before I left. [VICTIM #1] informed me that his son could not talk due to his condition. I informed [VICTIM #1], even though he did not want to take charges, that I would have to seek charges on Amber because of the Family Violence Act. I gave [VICTIM #1] a case number and headed to the hospital to speak with Amber.

Once I arrived at the hospital, I contacted Amber in room 4A. Amber was sitting in a chair, holding an ice pack in her left hand. I informed Amber of the reason why I was making contact with her at the time. I asked Amber to tell me what happened at the residence. Amber said [VICTIM #1] and her got into an argument. Amber said the argument became very heated to the point she threw a Lilo and Stitch item at the wall.

I asked Amber about hitting [VICTIM #1] with a bat, but she told Deputy Mixon that [VICTIM #1] tried to take the bat from her. Amber denied hitting him with a bat. Amber did admit to throwing some cooking oil on [VICTIM #1] during the argument. I asked Amber how she injured her hand. Amber said she told 911 that she slipped on glass, but it happened during the argument. Amber said she kept telling [VICTIM #1] to leave the residence.

I asked Amber what the argument was about between [VICTIM #1] and her. Amber said it was just something that kept building over time. Amber said [VICTIM #1] is just a manipulator, and he wants to take her children away. After speaking with Amber, I waited until the hospital released her to place Amber under arrest. The hospital medical cleared Amber, and I escorted her outside to my patrol vehicle.

I placed Amber under arrest for Aggravated Assault and Cruelty to Children at that time. Due to her injured left hand, I placed the handcuffs in front of her. I escorted Amber to the rear of my vehicle and placed her inside. I transported Amber to the Detention Center, where she was booked for her charges. I also will be seeking warrants for her charges.
