COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. – The Georgia Bureau of Investigation arrested Brandi Steverson, 48, of Douglas, on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, after she paid an undercover agent to kill her husband. The murder-for-hire investigation began when a concerned citizen reported to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office that Steverson had asked them about hiring a hitman to murder her spouse.
The GBI’s assistance was requested on Thursday, September 5, 2024. During the sting operation, Steverson made an initial payment to an agent and promised more money after her husband was killed, the GBI said.
As a result, Steverson was arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail. The operation involved several agencies, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office, the Ben Hill County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fitzgerald Police Department.
Steverson faces charges of conspiracy to commit murder and criminal attempt to commit murder.

The case will transfer to the Waycross Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for prosecution upon the conclusion of the investigation.
