Woman arrested, charged in connection with Augusta Mall shooting

The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office on April 30, 2024:

Update #2: On Monday, April 29, 2024, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office located and arrested Tybrea Nelson (24 yoa) on two counts of Aggravated Assault for her role in the shooting at the Augusta Mall.  Nelson’s booking photo is attached.

No further information available at this time.

Update #1: On Sunday, April 28, 2024 at 1:43pm, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to Dillard’s in Augusta Mall, 3450 Wrightsboro Road, in reference to shots fired.  Upon arrival, Deputies were informed the suspect had fled the scene and the victim had left before police arrived.

Deputies later learned the victim had driven themselves to a local hospital for treatment.  The Augusta Mall will remain closed for the rest of the day and resume normal business hours on Monday.

The investigation is ongoing and there is not further information available at this time.

RICHMOND COUNTY, Ga. – On Sunday,  April 28, 2024, the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office responded to 3450 Wrightsboro Road in reference to shots fired.  Investigators are en route to the scene.
