HENRY COUNTY, Ga. – On Saturday, February 3, 2024, Georgia State Patrol troopers arrested a 25-year-old woman for striking an 8-year-old female with her vehicle, resulting in her death. Kaylee Kristee Andre failed to stop her Ford Fusion for a stopped Henry County school bus on Jackson Lake Road on Thursday, February 1, and collided with the child while she attempted to cross the road to board.

The bus had its STOP signs displayed at the front and rear, as well as red flashing lights as it sat at the intersection near a private driveway. The child, a student at Rock Springs Elementary School, was identified as Adalynn Pierce.

After receiving lifesaving measures by EMS at the scene, Pierce was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston in critical condition. On Saturday, investigators revealed that she had succumbed to her injuries.

Troopers booked Andre into the Henry County Jail on February 3, 2024. She faces charges including first-degree vehicular homicide, obstruction of driver’s view/interference with control of vehicle, duty of driver of vehicle meeting or overtaking school bus (failure to stop for a school bus while loading/unloading), failure to exercise due care – proper use of radios and mobile telephones allowed, and failure to report name or address change.

Jackson Lake Road residents told FOX 5 that Andre failed to scrape off ice from her windshield, which impeded her view.

The Georgia State Patrol disclosed that their specialized collision reconstruction team is finalizing their investigation. This case is pending in court.
