FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – On Monday, February 5, 2024, police at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta arrested a woman after she caused a scene at a gate and ran across the tarmac. The incident began when officials informed the woman, Lezlie Hernandez Zapata, that they denied her boarding pass due to her disruptive behavior.
Officers responded to Gate E1 shortly before noon regarding a “disorderly customer.” As they began escorting Zapata from the gate toward the terminal, she refused to enter the patrol vehicle, broke free, and ran away from them on the tarmac.
Officers chased her, pushed her to the ground, and handcuffed her before transporting her to the airport precinct, where she continued her erratic behavior. After EMS evaluated and medically cleared her with no apparent injuries, she spat on several officers.
She then urinated in her pants and removed most of her clothes. Officers covered her with available items and clothing and transported her to the Clayton County Jail.
Zapata faces charges of disorderly conduct and obstruction of law enforcement officers. This case is pending in court.
