DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. – A DeKalb County woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after admitting to fatally shooting her husband in 2022, prosecutors said.
Iesha Zenobia Harmon, 45, pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to the DeKalb County District Attorney’s Office.
Police were called to the couple’s Decatur home on Sept. 19, 2022, where they found her husband, Shedrick Harmon, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital and later died.
Investigators said Harmon first claimed the shooting was accidental. However, prosecutors said text messages between the couple, along with statements from friends and relatives, pointed to a history of violence, substance abuse and infidelity in the relationship. The district attorney’s office said Harmon had also threatened her husband with a gun several times before the shooting.
A judge sentenced Harmon to 30 years in prison following her guilty plea.
