Warning: The following story contains information regarding alleged domestic violence.

TROUP COUNTY, Ga. – Authorities arrested a 30-year-old man on June 9, 2024, for slamming his girlfriend onto the ground, causing her to suffer a dislocated shoulder, a fractured clavicle, a ruptured ear drum, and a possible brain bleed. The responding LaGrange Police officer later witnessed the attack on a video captured by a nearby security camera.

The officer arrived at the location on Chatham Street at approximately 1:15 AM on June 8, 2024, to conduct a welfare check. A caller had reported observing a female lying in the road, then standing up and appearing lost.

The officer asked the victim if she was all right, and she said she believed she passed out but did not remember anything that had occurred. He inquired if she wished to be medically evaluated, but she refused.

The 26-year-old said the last thing she remembered was walking to the store with her boyfriend, Sanchez Montana Talley, from his mother’s house. She suddenly began to look around for Talley, her cell phone, and her purse but could not find them.

The officer noticed blood on her ear. Due to this detail and her lapse in memory, he contacted emergency medical services despite her hesitation.

After running the victim’s name through 911, they learned that she had three active warrants through the police department for failure to appear.

The officer reviewed video from the housing authority camera system and witnessed Talley slapping a cup out of the victim’s hand. He then picked her up and slammed her down on her shoulder and head before grabbing several items and walking away, leaving her unconscious.

She lay on the ground, unresponsive, for nearly five minutes. She then slowly rose to her feet and walked around until help arrived.

Upon asking for her name a second time, she admitted to providing her sister’s name initially but then offered her real identity. When the officer told her he witnessed Talley assaulting her, she expressed shock and began to cry.

She said she was sore and complained of pain in her shoulder, but when EMS arrived and said she needed to go to the hospital for her injuries, she stated that she did not want to go.

After some discussion, she eventually agreed to visit the hospital. She stood up and immediately vomited onto the ground. The officer noted that her vomiting was another sign of head injury.

Before EMS could leave, the victim suddenly refused treatment, exited the ambulance, and began walking back towards Chatham Street. Since she refused transport to the hospital and provided two names, the officer ran her through Rapid ID, which revealed three warrants, so he arrested her.

He transported her to Wellstar West Georgia Medical Center for medical clearance, where physicians evaluated her. Due to the severity of her injuries, it was determined that jail housing would endanger her health and possibly her life, and she was released from custody.

Talley was charged with aggravated battery – hand, fist, feet. Both he and the victim are believed to be homeless.

This case is pending.

On June 8, 2024, at 0115 hrs, I Officer Cavender responded to the area of Chatham St. in reference to a welfare check. The caller stated they were driving by at the location and noticed a female lying in the road. The caller stated the female began to get up and appeared lost. Upon arrival, I located the female and spoke with [VICTIM #1].

I asked [VICTIM #1] if she was alright. [VICTIM #1] stated she believed she passed out. [VICTIM #1] stated she doesn’t remember what happened. I then opened my rear passenger door to allow [VICTIM #1] to sit down. I asked [VICTIM #1] if she wanted AMR to check her out and [VICTIM #1] refused. I attempted to get further information from [VICTIM #1]. I asked [VICTIM #1] what was the last thing she remembered. [VICTIM #1] stated she was walking with her boyfriend Sanchez Tally. [VICTIM #1] then looked around and she couldn’t find Talley, her cellphone, or her purse.

I asked [VICTIM #1] where she was walking to. [VICTIM #1] stated she was going to the store with Talley, and remembers walking with him but doesn’t know anything else. [VICTIM #1] stated they were walking from Talley’s mother’s house at [200 BLOCK]. I then noticed blood on [VICTIM #1]’s ear. Due to [VICTIM #1]’ lapse in memory, and bleeding from the ear AMR was contacted to respond. After running [VICTIM #1] through 911 they advised she had three active warrants through the police department for failure to appear.

The video was then watched from the housing authority camera system. [VICTIM #1] and Talley are seen walking together. The two are walking on Chatham St. towards Whitesville Rd. Talley is then seen slapping a cup out of [VICTIM #1]’s hand. Talley then picks [VICTIM #1] up and slams her down on her shoulder and head. Talley appears to grab several items and walks away. [VICTIM #1] appears to be unconscious lying on the ground for almost 5 minutes. [VICTIM #1] then slowly gets up and walks around until officers arrive.

I asked [VICTIM #1] what her name was and what had occurred again. [VICTIM #1] stated she gave her sister’s name the first time but her name was [REDACTED]. [VICTIM #1] stated she believes she passed out but doesn’t know why. I informed [VICTIM #1] that I had access to the camera system in the area. I advised [VICTIM #1] that Talley had slammed her onto the ground. [VICTIM #1] then made a shocked expression and began to cry. [VICTIM #1] then stated she was sore and her shoulder was hurting. AMR arrived and advised [VICTIM #1] that she needed to go to the hospital for her injuries. [VICTIM #1] stated she didn’t want to go.

After advising [VICTIM #1] of the possible dangers and showing her that everyone on scene was concerned for her health she agreed to be transported to the hospital. [VICTIM #1] stood up and then threw up on the ground, showing yet another sign of a head injury. Once [VICTIM #1] was loaded up I planned on going to the hospital to see the extent of [VICTIM #1]’s injuries for the report. After running [REDACTED] through 911 they had no response from GCIC.

Before AMR could leave the housing authority [VICTIM #1] refused treatment and exited the ambulance. AMR advised [VICTIM #1] to begin to walk back towards Chatham St. I located at [200 BLOCK] Chatham. With [VICTIM #1] refusing to go with AMR to the hospital, and her providing two separate names I then ran her on the rapid ID. The rapid ID showed that the fingerprints belonged to [VICTIM #1]. With [VICTIM #1] having three warrants I arrested her. I placed [VICTIM #1] into cuffs which were fitted and double-locked. I secured [VICTIM #1] in the rear of my patrol vehicle with safety restraints. With [VICTIM #1]’s injuries, I transported her to Well Star West Georgia Medical Center to be cleared.

Once at the hospital, it was found that [VICTIM #1] had a dislocated shoulder, a fractured clavicle, a ruptured ear drum, and possibly a brain bleed. I informed my supervisor Sgt. Keith and Detective Blaine were contacted to respond to Aggravated Battery. Due to the injuries [VICTIM #1] had obtained it would endanger her health if she was taken to jail for housing. [VICTIM #1] was then released and was advised she was no longer under arrest, due to the possible life-threatening injuries. Detective Blaine then took over and informed me that this would be an Aggravated Battery with Talley being the offender.
