BIBB COUNTY, Ga. – A 15-year-old boy has been charged in the shooting death of a Macon mother who family and colleagues say devoted her life to helping children and teens in crisis.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after 41-year-old India Norwood Davis was shot and killed Thursday afternoon during an apparent armed robbery. Deputies were called to the 2100 block of Adams Avenue, where they found Davis suffering from a gunshot wound near her vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Loved ones described Davis as a devoted mother, daughter and sister, as well as a small business owner and former law enforcement officer. Family members said she was widowed several years ago and leaves behind multiple children.
According to reports, those who worked alongside Davis said her career was centered on supporting vulnerable children and families, making her death particularly devastating to the community she served.
Early Friday morning, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of a 15-year-old male in connection with the killing. The teen is charged with felony murder and armed robbery and is being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center in Macon. Because he is a juvenile, authorities have not released his name.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500 or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68-CRIME.
