On 02/0/2026 at 1503 hours, I and Ofc. Gibbs responded to the intersection of Spring Creek St. SW and E 14th St SW in regards to a female complaining that a male named Christopher Carson struck her son in the head with a pipe.

When we first arrived, Ms. [WITNESS #1], the complainant told us that a Mr. Christopher Carson had struck her son in the head with a pipe earlier that day. When Ofc. Gibbs checked the child’s head, there was a knot forming near the child’s left temple. The JUVENILE, [REDACTED BY AGENCY] told us that he was with a friend during the conflict with Mr. Carson, but the friend was not present when we arrived. The child and Ms. [WITNESS #1] directed us to the residence that Mr. Carson was located in. At this time, EMS arrived on scene where the child was placed into their care with the mother present.

When Ofc. Gibbs and I approached the residence of [1200 BLOCK] Spring Creek St, we initially made contact with the mother of Mr. Carson who then called him to the door. When we first began to talk to Mr. Carson, he was speaking very fast and visually was stressed. He began speaking about not meaning to hit “the kid” before we began to question him. At this time, we had him step outside where I read him the miranda warning. I began to question him about what had happened that day, but he again spoke fast and did not answer my questions. By then, I deemed I had probable cause to make the arrest for Mr. Carson for battery and cruelty to children in the first degree as there was physical and testimonial evidence that he maliciously caused intentional harm to the child resulting in pain and visible injury.

He was placed into handcuffs that were checked for fit and double locked. Mr. Carson was then placed into the rear passenger side of our patrol vehicle. While he was in the vehicle, I asked him to clarify what he struck the child with and he replied that it was a stick. The stick or pipe could not be located. Mr. Carson was transported and released into the custody of the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office with no further incident.
