On Wednesday February 4th, 2026 I, PFC J Taylor R77, was dispatched to Shorter Ave at the intersection of Redmond Cir in reference to a possible intoxicated subject.
While en route I was advised by Dispatch that the subject was observed by several citizens walking in and out of traffic and while doing so was hitting the side of vehicles that were in traffic. The subject was all so observed approaching passersby in a aggressive manner. County arrived on scene before I did and made contact with the subject.
Upon arrival I made contact with the subject identified as Daniel Beavers and upon contact I observed that he had bloodshot eyes, dry mouth, was unable to stand without swaying and I could smell a strong oder of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. Daniel was currently speaking to officers on scene in reference to going to the hospital for a mental evaluation. During this time Daniel manifested a manner that was loud and boisterous as well as began cursing and using racial slurries toward Officers and EMS staff at a volume that could be heard by passersby. Also during this time Daniel postured himself in a aggressive demeanor toward PD several times. It was at this time that I advised Daniel that because of his demeanor and his public behavior that he was ether going to the hospital for treatment or to jail. Daniel continued his behavior and because of this I placed Daniel in handcuffs and advised him that he was under arrest.
I escorted him to my Patrol Unit (177) were I then searched his person before placing him in the back seat. I then transported and booked him in at the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office on the charge of Disorderly Conduct – 16-11-39 and Public Drunkenness – 16-11-41.
