On December 12, 2025 (Friday) I, PFC Young, was dispatched to [900 BLOCK] Darlington Way Apt [REDACTED], Rome, GA 30161 in reference to a domestic altercation.
Dispatch advised that a mail carrier was reporting screaming, things being thrown, and a female screaming for help in the above apartment.
Upon my arrival, I made contact with the complainant, [WITNESS #1], who is a United States Postal Service employee. [WITNESS #1] was standing with the victim, [VICTIM #1], and appeared to be applying pressure to her forearm. I asked what happened and they showed me the blood-soaked wash cloth she was holding as a dressing. [WITNESS #1] removed it momentarily and showed me a deep laceration, approximately 1 inch in diameter, in [VICTIM #1]’s arm with the flesh missing.
[VICTIM #1] stated that her son, Elijah Bradley, attacked her inside the residence. I was familiar with various previous incidents between the two. [VICTIM #1] was unsure what Elijah attacked her with but recall a broom being used at one point. I asked where Elijah was and [VICTIM #1] stated he was still inside the residence.
I called for an ambulance to see to [VICTIM #1] while I attempted to call out to Elijah inside the residence. Elijah would not respond but I could hear someone walking around behind the residence in the gravel yard through a large privacy fence. [VICTIM #1] warned that Elijah had a sword of some sort in the residence and may have it with him.
I drew my service weapon but kept it close to my chest toward the floor. Eventually, Elijah opened the rear door to the residence and walked inside looking at me. I told Elijah to stop walking toward me but he continued, though he kept his hands in view and did not appear armed. Elijah stated he was surrendering and turned around to allow me to place him in handcuffs. I did so, double locked them, and checked them for fit. I then sat Elijah down outside.
Due to having Elijah detained, I read him his Miranda Rights and he stated he understood and wished to answer questions. I asked Elijah what happened between him and [VICTIM #1]. He simply stated that she was making him mad and “attacking him spiritually.” I asked Elijah how [VICTIM #1] received her wound but he stated he didn’t know. I continued to ask what he attacked her with but he suddenly stated he “plead the Fifth.” At this point, I advised Elijah he was under arrest and secured him in the back seat of my patrol vehicle after searching him incident to arrest.
I returned to [VICTIM #1] and asked if I could search her residence to ascertain what happened and she consented. I walked into the residence and immediately located a decent amount of blood in the kitchen floor. A red towel and blue dustpan were also in the floor. Items were strewn about the counter but did not appear to be used as a weapon. Some blood was splattered on the wall behind an appliance. I noticed a metal handled broom propped against the wall. The plastic cover of the end was shattered on the floor. I looked closely at the broom and it had some blood splatter on it. The exposed end was also sharp, round, and metal. It was approximately 1 inch in diameter.
I was able to determine that Elijah had actually attacked [VICTIM #1] with the broom and appeared to have stabbed her with it causing the significant injury. A blood trail was visible leading to the bathroom, where it appeared [VICTIM #1] attempted to control the bleeding. I photographed the scene and the broom. Due to the size of the broom, I did not collect it. I have attached the photos to this report.
I secured the residence at [VICTIM #1]’s request and completed a victim notification form. I provided [VICTIM #1] with a victim’s bill of rights. EMS personnel also photographed [VICTIM #1]’s injury before properly bandaging it. I sent an Axon Evidence link for that photo to be submitted.
[VICTIM #1] was left in the care of Atrium EMS. I transported Elijah to the Floyd County Jail where he was booked. Elijah did spit excessively in the back seat of my patrol vehicle and on the partition, requiring cleaning.
Back seat cleared before and after transport.
