[NARRATIVE #1 On September 05, 2025]

On the above date I responded to [200 BLOCK] AVENUE D SE in reference to a person getting shot. When I arrived I spotted a group of people standing outside of the residents, I asked where the shooter, gun, and person that was shot was. I was led inside where I saw LONG, JOHN ERIC laying on the ground with his leg bleeding he was in the doorway of the kitchen and his sisters, [VICTIM #1] bedroom. Johns mother [VICTIM #2] was standing over him tiring a t-shirt around his leg.

John was alert and conscious, I then placed a tourniquet on his leg. The gun that was used was a Springfield Armory XD S#- AT153944 owned by [VICTIM #1] and was placed on [VICTIM #1]’s bed. I also saw, [WITNESS #1], [VICTIM #1]’s fiance sitting on the bed. [WITNESS #1] appeared to be shocked I told her to leave the room to which she did. Around this time PFC McCormick detained [VICTIM #1] outside. I secured the fire-arm in my vehicle.

Once EMS took over care for John I went outside and spoke with [VICTIM #2], John’s mother. [VICTIM #2] states that John came home angry and began to scream at her. When asked why John would be angry [VICTIM #2] told me that she’s not sure. [VICTIM #2] then told me that John began to get in her face while screaming and would not leave her alone, this is when [VICTIM #2] slaps John.

[VICTIM #2] then explained that this is when John grabbed her wrist bending it upward (putting it in a wrist lock.) and pushed her against the door. This is when they went through the door (to [VICTIM #1]’s bed room) where [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1] were. [VICTIM #2] then states that this is when John stated that he was going to kill them. [VICTIM #2] them states that this is when she fell over the bed in the room and [VICTIM #1] told John to leave them alone. [VICTIM #2] said John began to approach them this is when [VICTIM #1] fired a shot.

[VICTIM #2] was in visible pain, when asked what was wrong she told me that she feel earlier today and thinks that she may have broke one of her ribs. [VICTIM #2] then asked to be seen by EMS for the fall she had earlier in the day. I then went to speak with [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1] states that while in her room with [WITNESS #1] she heard John and [VICTIM #2] auguring. [VICTIM #1] says that this is a normal occurrence. When all of the sudden they burst through her bed room door. [VICTIM #1] says she saw John holding [VICTIM #2] with one hand a barstool with the other. [VICTIM #2] then feel over the bed and [VICTIM #1] got in between the two. [VICTIM #1] also states that John told them that he would kill them. This is when [VICTIM #1] told John to leave them alone and that he will not hurt their mother.

After [VICTIM #2] was checked out by EMS I began to speak to her again, were she states that John did pick up a bar stool and held it in one hand while holding her writs in the other.

When investigation arrived I recovered a spent casing in the room.

[NARRATIVE #2 On September 05, 2025]

On September 5, 2025, I was advised about a person that was shot at [200 BLOCK] Avenue D. I responded to the location and spoke with the victims and witness. Logan Moore went to the hospital and spoke with the offender.

Probable cause was found and warrants were issued. See case file.

[NARRATIVE #3 On September 05, 2025]

Investigator Ribot and I arrived to the incident location. Investigator Ribot conducted interviews with all three females that were on scene. During this time Investigator Moore was at Atrium Health Floyd following up on the subject that was shot.

Investigator Ribot and I (Investigator Guzman) went into the residence with both consents from the homeowners. Investigator Ribot collected pictures of the scene, and Officer Carpenter had collected the gun casing from the bedroom floor. Officer Carpenter had already collected the gun that was used prior to our arrival.

I (Investigator Guzman), and all other officers then left the scene. I (Investigator Guzman) was in route to get warrants of John Long for the incident that had taken place.

[NARRATIVE #4 On September 05, 2025]

On above date and time I Pfc McCormick responded to [200 BLOCK] ave D in reference to a shooting. While en route dispatch advised the caller was not on scene that someone had came and informed her that a male had been shot while protecting his mother. They gave a later update that it was his sister that shot him while he was protecting her.

Upon arrival I observed Officer Carpenter who had went directly in and began rendering aid to the male that had got shot in the shin. I then went outside inquired who the shooter was and placed them into cuffs while the situation was being investigated due to the information provided VIA Dispatch the sister was the aggressor. I inquired as to where the firearm was that had been discharged and was informed that it was in the house laying on the bed. Upon verifying this information I advised dispatch the scene was safe for EMS.

Upon doing so EMS came in to render aid to the male and take him to the hospital. Before I left the scene it had been discovered that the male had actually been the one fighting with his mother and chased her into his sisters room. Busting down the door to get to her with a stool in his hands. The Female stated that at this point she feared for her mothers and her own safety. She then drew and discharged the weapon into his leg dropping him and ending the threat of him attacking her mother or her. Upon him hitting the floor the moved to safety and waited for Police and Ems to arrive on scene.

After this information was disclosed it was agreed upon with Officers on scene that she was acting in self defense of her mother and her self and the hand cuffs were removed from her wrists. Due to calls coming in I left the scene and went back into service.
