FLOYD COUNTY, Ga. – Rome Police officers arrested a 31-year-old Bowden woman after her toddler was struck by a vehicle in a Citgo parking lot. At approximately 2:30 PM on Monday, November 18, 2024, witnesses reported that a reversing car had struck and injured a child in the lot at the intersection of Martha Berry Boulevard and John Davenport Drive.

Officers revealed that the unsupervised 15-month-old male had wandered over from a nearby hotel. The incident occurred when an unaware driver began backing up to exit the premises and hit the boy.

Officials transported the victim to an area hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries sustained to his leg. The status of his condition is yet to be released; however, the Floyd County DFCS obtained custody of the boy.

Police arrested the victim’s mother, Holly Kate Hosey, and transported her to the Floyd County Jail, where she was charged with felony child cruelty. This case is pending.
