[NARRATIVE #1 on January 08, 2026]

On 01/08/26 at 00:01 hrs. Myself and Officer Roden responded to a domestic dispute at Krystal on Shorter Ave.

Upon my arrival the witness gave a description of the victim, and that moment she was across the street at the Food City Mart on Shorter Ave. The witness stated it was a white female wearing dark blue pants. I drove across the street and made contact with the victim [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1] stated she and Robert Collom got into an argument about dinner not being prepared on time. [VICTIM #1] stated that Robert became irate and began accusing her of cheating on him. During our conversation she mentioned she was four months pregnant and Robert was the father. [VICTIM #1] stated she went for a walk to get away from the situation, and she was followed by Robert.

[VICTIM #1] was at Krystal and then she walked over to the Food Mart, and thats when Robert calmly asked [VICTIM #1] to walk over to him. [VICTIM #1] walked over and she stated that’s when he snapped and wrapped his arms around her neck and then she was shoved to the ground. She yelled and stated that the cops were across the street, and because of police presence he let go of her and returned to the residence.

During our interaction she continued to try and protect Robert stating she did not want to press charges and that he was a good guy, but he had some area’s in his life he needed to work out. It was evident by her body language and constantly stating she did not want to press charges made me believe she was in fear for her life, or serious danger.

I explained to her the cycle of domestic violence and she stated this was not the first time they’ve had issues. I was able to get the home address of Robert Collom, and Officer Roden drove to the residence. Shortly after I drove [VICTIM #1] to the residence and she was secured safely in the back of my patrol vehicle.

Robert was inside and refused to come out. Lt. Burnes and Officer Roden assisted in the apprehension of Robert. Once Robert was placed under arrest a search incident to arrest took place and he was read miranda. He understood his rights and stated that he never did anything wrong. Robert accused [VICTIM #1] of having random men in their home and sleeping around. Officer Roden drove Robert to West Rome Baptist Church to allow [VICTIM #1] to safely enter the home. [VICTIM #1] was also given a victim notification form and a pamphlet with the organizations that can be helpful to her.

[VICTIM #1] was able to enter the residence and gather essential belongings, and she was informed she would need to set up a date and time with the sheriff’s office to retrieve the rest of her belongings.

Due to the testimony of a third party witness, and [VICTIM #1] being four months pregnant; Robert was charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault FVA along with Simple Battery FVA. He was transported to Floyd County Jail with no issues.

[NARRATIVE #2 on January 08, 2026]

On January 8, 2026 Officers were dispatched to 519 Shorter Avenue (Krystals) in reference to a fight between a male and female.

Upon arrival, I made contact with two witnesses that wished to be anonymous. They stated that a black male had attacked a white female across the street in the lot of the City Food Mart. They stated the male grabbed the female around the neck from behind with the bend of his arm as if he was choking her. They went on to say that the male began striking the female in the face and threw her to the ground. The male then ran down S Division St. into the darkness.

While I was speaking with the witnesses, Officer Valentine was with the female. Her story corroborated the witnesses. Officer Valentine advised me that the suspect’s name was Robert Collom and that he lived at [100 BLOCK] S Hughes St. I immediately went to that address and found that the screen door was locked from the inside and the back door was locked as well. This gave me reasonable suspicion to believe that Mr. Collom was inside the residence. I waited for other Officers to arrive on scene. Lt. Burnes began giving verbal commands through his PA system.

The male suspect complied to Officer’s commands and exited the residence with his hands in the air. He was given further commands to walk out, turn around, and place his hands behind his back. He complied to all of these commands. During the time that Mr. Collom was being commanded out of the house and placed into custody, my department issued firearm was drawn and pointed in his direction due to the violent nature of the crime Mr. Collom had committed. Officer Valentine placed him under arrest. See Valentine’s primary narrative for everything after the arrest.
