On 07-29-2025, a BOLO for a stolen blue Ford F-150 bearing NC tag [REDACTED] was put out by Franklin County Dispatch as well as Troop B Dispatch.

Around 1020 hours, while patrolling in the area of Georgia 77, I observed the Ford F-150 traveling north on Georgia 77 in Hart County. As I made a U-turn to perform a traffic stop on the Ford, it sped up and cut through the parking lot at the intersection of Georgia 77 and Georgia 51 and went south on Georgia 51.

As I caught up to the vehicle, I observed it traveling well over 100 MPH. I had my emergency equipment activated and the driver failed to stop, initiating a pursuit. I advised the radio room that I was 10-80 (in pursuit) south on Georgia 51. While on Georgia 51, the Ford failed to maintain its lane several times, passed vehicles in a no passing zone, and went head on with traffic several times. Due to traffic, curves in the road, hilltops, and the high rate of speed, I chose not to attempt a PIT maneuver on Georgia 51.

Once at the intersection of Georgia 51 and Georgia 17, the Ford failed to stop at the stop sign and turned left traveling south on Georgia 17. Once on Georgia 17, the traffic was lighter and the speeds were lower, so I attempted to conduct a PIT maneuver on the Ford. I made contact with the left rear of the vehicle with my right front. The Ford left the roadway on the left side, traveled through a ditch striking a mailbox, and traveled up an embankment. The fleeing vehicle circled through the parking lot of a brewery and turned back south on Georgia 17.

We continued south on Georgia 17 through the city of Canon. After passing Spring Street, the Ford had slowed down, so I attempted a second PIT maneuver, which was unsuccessful. On my third attempt to PIT the vehicle, the vehicle rotated clockwise and came to a stop.

Once stopped, Canon Police Chief Brad Cook and I approached the Ford with our duty weapons drawn. The driver and passenger were taken into custody without further incident.

Once in handcuffs, the passenger, who was identified as Nicklaus Bevis DOB [REDACTED], advised that they had both escaped from the Union County Jail in South Carolina. The driver, who was identified as Devin Jake Fisher DOВ [REDACTED], was read his Miranda Warning and chose to not speak. In the truck was a half-smoked marijuana cigar and a glass pipe used for smoking that was still warm. I went back to the driver and asked if he would be willing to conduct Field Sobriety Evaluations. He gave a verbal “no”. I read to him the Georgia Implied Consent Notice for Suspects 21 and Over. I asked for a sample of his blood, and he gave a verbal “no” at 1052 hours.

While I was dealing with the driver, CPL Jordan #184 confirmed with Union County that the two had escaped from their jail. They were both transported to the Franklin County Jail without incident and the truck was released to Carnesville Paint and Body.

The driver was charged with several traffic charges and criminal charges and the passenger was charged for not wearing his seatbelt. Given the chase went through Hart County and Franklin County, the charges were taken out in both.

This incident is linked to crash numbers C000923263 and C001008287.
