FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – The Atlanta Dream are turning their 2025 home opener into a powerful statement, both literally and symbolically, with the debut of a groundbreaking new basketball court that places the spotlight squarely on women’s sports. When the Dream face off against the Indiana Fever on Thursday at State Farm Arena, the game will be played on a newly designed court emblazoned with the message, “Pay Some Respect to Women’s Sports,” prominently displayed at center court.
The bold court design is part of a wider collaboration between the Dream, mobile finance platform Cash App, and woman-owned streetwear label Playa Society. The initiative aims to shift how women’s professional basketball is promoted and celebrated, blending sport, culture, and community empowerment.
In an effort to extend the impact beyond game day, the court will be donated to a local youth organization following the game. Organizers hope it will inspire young girls in Atlanta to pursue their athletic ambitions and see themselves reflected in the professional game.
This year’s home opener will not be held at the Dream’s usual Gateway Center Arena, but it will return to State Farm Arena for the special occasion. The new court is part of a broader campaign designed to integrate advocacy into every aspect of the fan experience. The “Pay Some Respect” message will also appear on players’ practice jerseys and is the centerpiece of a limited-edition apparel collection co-created by Playa Society and Cash App.
The retail collection ranges in price from $45 to $180 and is available online and at the Dream’s retail store.
Cash App cardholders will also benefit from exclusive perks during the season, including 20% discounts on merchandise and concessions at both State Farm Arena and Gateway Center Arena. Fans attending the home opener can expect a celebratory atmosphere featuring a special halftime performance, underscoring the event’s fusion of entertainment and advocacy.
Playa Society, founded in 2018 to create greater representation for women in sports through fashion, has been a partner of the WNBA since 2021. This latest project marks a new milestone for the brand as it moves its messaging from apparel to the actual playing surface.
The game will be broadcast nationally on Amazon Prime and locally via Peachtree TV, further amplifying the campaign’s reach. With this initiative, the Atlanta Dream are not just tipping off a new season—they’re setting a new standard for how sports franchises can champion equity and inclusion through innovative branding and authentic partnerships.
