The following was taken from a press release distributed by the Atlanta Police Department on June 18, 2024:
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – On 6/18/24, around 2:02am, officers responded to Grady Hospital in reference to a male who sustained gunshot wounds to his ankle and foot. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the male who was receiving treatment by hospital staff.
Preliminary investigation indicates the victim was attending a candle light vigil when an unknown vehicle approached the location and began discharging a firearm at the group attending the vigil. The victim further stated he hid behind a vehicle for cover, but later noticed he sustained gunshot wounds.
Investigators on scene recovered multiple shell casings from the crime scene. The investigation remains active and ongoing at this time.
