FULTON COUNTY, Ga. – On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Mayor Andre Dickens and the City of Atlanta shared a press release revealing the results of a recent landmark study called the “Atlanta Nightlife Impact Report.” The study indicated that Atlanta’s nightlife industry generated over $5 billion in 2024 and currently supports over 41,000 jobs throughout the busy city.

Atlanta partnered with Jon Stover & Associates to conduct the study that detailed the significant economic impact and eclectic cultural influence of the area’s nightlife atmosphere.

Mayor Dickens stated, “Our administration’s Nightlife Division has already made invaluable contributions not only to the industry, small businesses, and the culture – it has played a key role in non-policing efforts to bring our crime rates down over the past three years through outreach and quarterly events, like Training Day.”

Dickens continued, “We are dedicated to implementing smart strategies to preserve and enhance the vibrancy and safety of our nightlife industry so it remains a cornerstone of Atlanta’s cultural and economic framework.”

The industry has remained a strong economic force and a defining facet of Atlanta despite several challenges, mostly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The pandemic drove up operational fees and altered consumers’ patterns.

The impact report also featured multiple strategies to address these and other hurdles and foster the booming industry. The recommendations included urging collaboration and strengthening networks among city officials, business owners, and employees.

Another suggestion aimed to enhance marketing and branding, while a third focused on supporting economic resilience through sustainability. A fourth strategy noted strengthening safety and security in the city’s nightlife venues to bolster customer trust and patronage.

The report listed implementing discounted parking fees for employees, grants for improved safety features and items, increased pedestrian infrastructure, and the creation of groups or hubs of late-night events and activities.

Atlanta is often celebrated for its diversity and vibrance in culture, food, music, and events. The study maintained a wide range of perspectives collected from over 550 business owners, employees, and customers.

Suggestions from patrons included added nighttime events with free admission and more locally owned shops and venues. Consumers also requested that restaurants remain open later, specifically past 10:00 PM.

The city’s nightlife economy is divided into three major categories: bars/nightclubs, performing arts venues, and restaurants, and the survey determined that the industry overall is continuing to bounce back from the pandemic. Almost 60% of businesses indicated patron traffic and revenue have not fully returned to their pre-pandemic numbers.
