On January 9, 2025, I, Deputy Cooper, badge #521, was assigned to the Gilmer County Sheriff’s Office UPD. I was dispatched at approximately 01:24 hours to a trespass at [700 BLOCK] Orchard Road. I responded code 1, non-emergency (no lights/ no sirens).

I arrived at the residence at approximately 01:28 hours. I met with [VICTIM #1] and [WITNESS #1]. While speaking with the two, Ms. [WITNESS #1] had to interpret for Ms. [VICTIM #1]. Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that Gerardo Chavero-Ruiz entered into the home, walked into Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s room and took three hundred (300) dollars out of her purse, and then left the residence. Ms. [WITNESS #1] was able to confirm that Mr. Ruiz did enter the residence without permission.

While asking Ms. [VICTIM #1] for more information on Mr. Ruiz, she handed me a victim’s notification form with Mr. Ruiz’s name on it from an incident back in 2024. Cpl. Sawyer asked dispatch if Mr. Ruiz had bond conditions involving Ms. [VICTIM #1]. Dispatch advised that Mr. Ruiz had no contact bond conditions involving Ms. [VICTIM #1].

Due to Mr. Ruiz violating his bond conditions involving Ms. [VICTIM #1], I issued a warrant for Aggravated Stalking (OCGA 16-5-91), (FVA) since Mr. Ruiz entered the residence of Ms. [VICTIM #1] without permission, and violated his bond conditions.

I gave Ms. [VICTIM #1] a victim’s pamphlet with my name and badge number, today’s date, case number, Vine pamphlet, and Victim’s notification form. I informed Ms. [VICTIM #1] that if she wanted a copy of the report, they could obtain one from the Gilmer County ADC in 5- 7 business days.

After Cpl. Sawyer and I left the residence, Sgt. Humphries, Cpl. Sawyer, Deputy Ledford, Deputy Parks, and I attempted to locate Mr. Ruiz at [400 BLOCK] Old Ridge Road and [300 BLOCK] Yukon Alley, known addresses where he would be staying. We were unable to locate Mr. Ruiz at either location.
