On 07/17/2026, I, Deputy Heptinstall #537, was notified by Dispatch there was currently a telephone call holding for Zone 3 in reference to a hit and run that occurred on 07/16/2026 on Clear Creek Rd near Evans Rd.
Upon making contact with the complainant [VICTIM #1] at 0729 hours, I was notified that she had possibly located the vehicle that had hit her at [60 BLOCK] Bearden Trl. She advised that it was a grey/tan SUV with front end damage. Myself and Deputy Knight #543 arrived at [60 BLOCK] Bearden Trl to inspect the vehicle at 0803 hours. A Grey 2003 GMC Envoy was parked in the driveway with severe front-end damage, and red paint transfer near damage.
[REDACTED] ([WITNESS #1] Mother) came outside and greeted us and informed me that the GMC Envoy belonged to Justin Myers who was currently at work at Pilgrim’s Pride in Ellijay. Deputy Knight checked Flock and discovered a camera had caught the vehicle traveling west on Highway 52 and that there was no damage to the front end at the time the picture was taken 07/16/2026 at 1601 hours.
After relocating to Pilgrim’s Pride security escorted myself and Deputy Knight to the human resources department to wait for Justin. After waiting for a couple minutes [WITNESS #1] walked in inquired if we were looking for the one involved in the hit and run and informed us that Justin was driving the vehicle yesterday and advised that she was the passenger. [WITNESS #1] informed us that Justin was about to walk through the gate.
I left the office and greeted Justin outside. After greeting Justin, he openly admitted to operating the vehicle and fleeing the scene after the accident. I placed Justin under arrest for Driving while license suspended or revoked (40-5-121) and fleeing the scene of an accident (40-6-270). Cuffs were applied in the front, checked for fit, and double locked. Justin was transported to the Gilmer County Detention Center and turned over to Detention Staff.
BSC completed before and after arrival at Detention Center.
Citations for 40-5-121, and 40-6-270 were turned over to detention staff.
