On January 1st, 2026, at approximately 5:47 A.M., dispatch advised a 911 operator’s vehicle had been involved in a hit-and-run accident that occurred on December 29th. I identified the victim as [VICTIM #1] and began taking her statement later that morning.
I met with Ms. [VICTIM #1], who informed me that she finished work on Sunday, January 28th, at approximately 7 P.M. After returning home to [3900 BLOCK] Darien Highway, West Minister Apartments, Building [REDACTED], she discovered on Tuesday at around 10:19 A.M. that someone had damaged the front of her 2014 Cadillac ATS.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] then began knocking on doors in the surrounding area to gather information. She spoke with a woman named [WITNESS #1], who claimed to have witnessed the collision at approximately 7:38 P.M. on Monday, January 29th. Ms. [WITNESS #1] lives in Building [REDACTED], and I was able to speak with her as well.
During our conversation, Ms. [WITNESS #1] stated that while she was smoking a cigarette, she saw a white SUV back up and collide with Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s red Cadillac. Ms. [WITNESS #1] mentioned that it felt like she made eye contact with the driver of the white SUV. Ms. [WITNESS #1] then ducked her head down, as if she didn’t want to acknowledge what had happened. The driver of the SUV then drove away from the scene.
Ms. [VICTIM #1] surveyed the parking lot and found a white SUV matching the description. It had damage to the rear passenger bumper with streaks of red consistent with her car’s damage.
On December 31st, Ms. [VICTIM #1] noticed a younger Black female, who was neither skinny nor large, approaching the car. She realized that this was the vehicle that had struck her own. Ms. [VICTIM #1] confronted the woman about the incident, but the woman refused to speak to her. Eventually, Ms. [VICTIM #1] decided to walk away and decided she would report the incident the following morning. Ms. [VICTIM #1] was able to gather the tag and a picture of the damage on the SUV.
I checked the tag “[REDACTED],” which was registered to a 2020 Toyota RAV4 belonging to [REDACTED]. Ms. [REDACTED]’s address is [100 BLOCK] Zachary Drive, so I went to her residence to make contact with her.
Upon arrival, I spoke with Ms. [REDACTED] and informed her that her car was involved in a hit-and-run incident. She told me that her son, [WITNESS #2], drives the vehicle. I asked if he had a girlfriend who might have driven the car, and she mentioned that his girlfriend, Angel Johnson, could have. Ms. [REDACTED] described Ms. A. Johnson in a manner similar to how Ms. [VICTIM #1] had previously described her.
I explained that Ms. A. Johnson was facing charges related to the hit-and-run. Ms. [REDACTED] then called her son and told him that the police were present and looking to apprehend Ms. A. Johnson in connection with the incident. I overheard their conversation, during which Mr. [WITNESS #2] mentioned that the collision occurred in their apartment complex.
I explained to Mr. [WITNESS #2] that Ms. A. Johnson needed to either turn herself in or arrange a meeting with us to discuss her arrest on the charge. Mr. [WITNESS #2] informed me that they would be heading to the residence at [100 BLOCK] Zachary Drive to address the situation.
Shortly after, Mr. [WITNESS #2] and Ms. A. Johnson arrived at the residence. I asked Ms. Johnson what had happened that day, and she stated that on Monday, she had backed into a vehicle while leaving for work. She admitted that she then left the scene and recognized that she should have remained at the scene.
I placed Ms. Johnson under arrest for the charge of hit and run and transported her to the Glynn County Detention Center, where she was released to the jail staff. I have issued a citation for Hit and Run (Citation #284358) to Ms. Johnson.
