On the above date and time, I, Officer Acevedo, responded to the Southeast Georgia Health System emergency room entrance in reference to the Chief of Police of the Hospital notifying us that there was a gunshot victim at the hospital.
Upon arrival, a 2017 Kia sedan, with a Florida tag [REDACTED], was parked in front of the emergency room entrance. The vehicle had damage to the bottom of the driver’s side door. The driver’s window also looked to be cracked from the inside. In the cup holders, I observed a firearm.
I first talked to a black male that Officer Sullivan walked out with, later identified as [WITNESS #1]. He stated that they were parked in front of [2600 BLOCK] Johnston Street Apt [REDACTED]. He stated that he was in the passenger seat playing Call of Duty. [WITNESS #1] stated that 2 males walked up to the car in which the victim was talking to. [WITNESS #1] stated that there was no arguing, but that he did not hear any of the conversation that was happening. He said that it had gotten quiet, to which he heard three gunshots go off. He said that the victim may have been reaching for her gun, which was in the center cup holder.
[WITNESS #1] stated that when he looked up, the males were gone and stated that they might have ran towards L street. [WITNESS #1] then drove the victim to the Southeast Georgia Health System Hospital. [WITNESS #1] did advise that he knew one of the males that the victim was talking to, whom he identified as [REDACTED]. He stated that [REDACTED]’s mother lived at [2600 BLOCK] Johnston Street.
I then spoke with [WITNESS #1]’s mother, [WITNESS #2]. She stated that she had gotten home three minutes before 9 o’clock. While she was inside the house, sitting down, she heard gunshots go off. [WITNESS #2] stated that it was 9 o’clock when she walked out to see what had occurred. She stated that she did not see anyone outside but [WITNESS #1] and the victim. She then advised [WITNESS #1] to take the victim to the Hospital.
I then arrived to [2600 BLOCK] Johnston Street. Officer Lovett had located two bullet casings in front of [2600 BLOCK] Johnston Street. Another bullet casing was later located on the road between [2600 BLOCK] and [2600 BLOCK] Johnston. A bullet projectile was located near [2600 BLOCK] Johnston Street.
CID then arrived, and the scene was transferred over to Detective Howell.
