On April 17, 2022 at approximately 1:10 A.M., I heard a medical call at I-95 Toyota.
Upon arrival I found EMS working on a male in the breezeway. They appeared to be working a code (heart not pumping). While EMS was taking care of the patient, I was talking to the owner ([WITNESS #1]) who stated that there might be more then want has been said.
When asked him what he was talking about he stated that he had a witness that the victim ([VICTIM #1]) got hit by a unknown person. We asked him to have the witness come back to the scene. I started interviewing bystanders around the area.
I asked [WITNESS #1] about the surveillance cameras in the area. [WITNESS #1] pulled up his phone showing the camera’s being off line. He stated that they were installing a new camera system and the camera’s were not able to be pulled up on his phone. He stated that he will call the camera company the next day to see if the system recorded even though it couldn’t be viewed.
I then talked to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] who stated that he was at the party with [VICTIM #1] (victim). He stated that he didn’t see the altercation, he came around the corner and saw [VICTIM #1] laying on the ground. He stated that he lifted [VICTIM #1]’s head up, noticed all the blood and laid it back down gently. He stated he started doing CPR on him and someone pulled him off. He didn’t know the offender, only the victim. The employees of I-95 Toyota did not know the victim or witness.
I then talked to [REDACTED BY AGENCY]. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he was doing the DJing for the party. He stated he had loaded all his equipment into his vehicle and he heard a something. He said it was probably [VICTIM #1]’s head hitting the concrete. He walked around his vehicle and saw a crowd gathering around [VICTIM #1] laying on the ground bleeding. He did not see the altercation.
[REDACTED BY AGENCY] then arrived back on scene, so I interviewed him. [REDACTED BY AGENCY] stated that he had pulled his truck into the breezeway (where the fight happened) to pull luggage out his tailgate to send his kids home. He heard the victim and a unknown male arguing. He thought at first that they were playing with each other.
When he saw the victim aggressively walking towards the unknown male, he noticed they were not joking around. He stated he was standing about 6 feet away when the unknown male punched the victim, knocking him to the ground. The victim hit his head on the cement causing it to bleed. [REDACTED BY AGENCY]
Sgt. Jones had contacted CID about the situation. CID arrived on scene. I advised them of the information I had and the call was turned over to them.
