On 2-20-24, I was dispatched to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to a domestic call.

On scene, Ofc Shirley and I spoke with [VICTIM #1], who stated her husband, Jose Garcia attacked her. she stated they got into a verbal altercation about Garcia being abusive towards her and that she wanted him gone out of her life. He became upset and became physical with her. While Mrs. [VICTIM #1] stated she was laying down in the bed when they arguing and Garcia mounted her and began to choke her with both hands around her neck.

[VICTIM #1] stated she began to scream was able to Garcia off of her by swinging her arms and scratching at him. once she was free she attempted to flee and he punched her in the lower left leg. [VICTIM #1] was able to run outside and call for help and stated Garcia ran after her but when ran when she called the police.

While speaking with Mrs. [VICTIM #1], Ofc Shirley and I Observed redness around her neck consistent with her statement, she also had a bruise on her lower left leg near her ankle which was also consistent. After speaking with Mrs. [VICTIM #1], I made contact with Sgt Nolen and advised her of the incident. I also advised her that Garcia Possibly fled the scene prior to police arrival. Sgt Nolen and Ofc Dinkins arrived on scene to assist.

Once on scene, we entered the residence to check if Garcia possibly ran back in to the residence to hide. While clearing the residence, Ofc Dinkins noticed a person’s arm hanging out from under a bed in the room near the back of the residence. Sgt Nolen flipped the mattress and we took Garcia into custody. He was placed in handcuffs double locked and transported to the CDC and released to the jail staff.

Ofc Shirley gave Mrs. [VICTIM #1] a case card and a victim’s bill of rights pamphlet. Warrants were also secured for Garcia.
