[NARRATIVE #1 on January 31, 2026]
On January 31st, at approximately 1450 hours, I, OFC Curvin (Badge #119) was dispatched and responded to 760 Scranton Road; Blaze Box Inc., Brunswick, GA in reference to a robbery which led to crime scene processing and further investigation.
Upon my arrival to the scene, I met and spoke with [VICTIM #1], the cashier at the above stated business. [VICTIM #1] was able to provide officers on scene a video and explain what occurred at the business. [VICTIM #1] stated that an unidentified white male entered the business at approximately 1447 hours and approached the counter. [VICTIM #1] stated that while speaking to him, the male was suspicious, as he was manipulating his clothing throughout the entirety of the encounter. The male paid for an item at the register and handed her cash. When [VICTIM #1] opened the register, the male drew a knife and lunged for the visible cash while attacking [VICTIM #1]. The male struck and wrestled [VICTIM #1] over the counter for a few seconds and held the knife in an offensive position while wrestling her. The knife appeared to make contact with [VICTIM #1] but officers on scene did not identify any blade-related injuries on [VICTIM #1]’s person. After a short fight, the male disengages and fled from the business. [VICTIM #1] was able to provide CCTV footage of the incident from two perspectives. The footage has been collected and uploaded to evidence.com.
[VICTIM #1] also appeared to suffer several abrasions from the scuffle. [VICTIM #1] had multiple spots on her face that were reddened due to the fight with the male. Both temples of [VICTIM #1]’s face and her right cheek had red marks. Officers on scene also collected photographs of the injuries and uploaded them to evidence.com.
It is unknown, based on the video footage, if anything was taken from the store at this time.
With the information and evidence collected, officers on scene made contact with Criminal Investigations Division (CID). CID advised they would be en route to the incident location. Officers on scene then established a crime scene perimeter and conducted crime scene security. Once detectives arrived on scene, they began their crime scene processing.
Once CID concluded their evaluation of the scene, all units were cleared and resumed normal activities. All evidence has been uploaded to evidence.com.

[NARRATIVE #2 on January 31, 2026]
On January 31st at approximately 23:50 hours Officer Owens and I responded in reference to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] a Burglary. Upon arrival, I spoke with to [VICTIM #2].
Ms. [VICTIM #2] appeared very upset when we made contact with her. Ms. [VICTIM #2] said that the safe that was stolen contained 4 passports, jewelry, a pistol and $60,000 in cash.
When asked who stole the safe, Ms. [VICTIM #2] claimed that her son, Joshua Hurtado, stole it. Ms. [VICTIM #2] showed us an Apple laptop, which was linked to Joshua’s cellphone, revealing a picture of the stolen safe sent to someone from Joshua. Ms. [VICTIM #2] said that the burglary happened between 6pm and 11pm. It was mentioned that Joshua has had drug problems in the past and that it has gotten worse recently.
When asked how Joshua got into the house, Ms. [VICTIM #2] said that he got in through the garage. Ms. [VICTIM #2] claimed the garage was shut when she left the house. I observed the garage door opened enough for someone to crawl through. Ms. [VICTIM #2] showed me that the garage door will not close due to Joshua forcing it open. Ms. [VICTIM #2] also mentioned that the door leading into the house from the garage was left unlocked.
The Apple laptop with the messages from Joshua was seized for further investigating. A property receipt form was completed and was given to Ms. [VICTIM #2]. This laptop was later turned over to the Major Crimes Unit.
Joshua Hurtado will be charged with Burglary 1st degree FVA due to observing the messages from the laptop of Joshua sending a picture of the stolen safe to another party and statements he made to detectives during a mirandized interview. Mr. Hurtado admitted to detectives that he broke into his mothers home.
The residence was not fingerprinted/processed. There are no cameras at this residence.
