Officer’s Narrative:

On the above date and time, I, Pfc. Saint Louis, while on duty with the Brunswick Police Department, responded to [REDACTED] in reference to multiple individuals fighting outside the residence. I, along with other units, arrived on scene, separated all involved parties, and conducted individual interviews.

I first interviewed the victim’s brother, Luke Bradford Jr. While speaking with Mr. Bradford, I detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from his person. Mr. Bradford stated that he, along with his female friends (who were no longer on scene), his sister, [VICTIM #1], and his brother-in-law, Kade Christian, had been at Ziggy’s Mahoney’s Night Club on Saint Simons Island. After leaving the club, the group decided to attend an after-party at an unknown location on Saint Simons Island.

Mr. Bradford stated that after arriving at the after-party, Ms. [VICTIM #1] became separated from the group. Everyone searched for her but was unable to locate her. Mr. Christian became upset and believed Ms. [VICTIM #1] had left with another male whom he claimed to have seen her speaking with during the party. Mr. Bradford stated he eventually located Ms. [VICTIM #1] asleep underneath a table on the back porch of the residence. He assisted her into his black Kia Optima along with one of his female friends, and they drove to [REDACTED], the residence shared by Ms. [VICTIM #1] and Mr. Christian.

Upon arriving, Mr. Bradford stated Mr. Christian was angry and yelling because he had been unable to locate Ms. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. Bradford advised that his female friend informed Mr. Christian that Ms. [VICTIM #1] had been found and was sitting inside the vehicle. Mr. Bradford stated Mr. Christian immediately punched his female friend in the face. Mr. Bradford then intervened by pushing Mr. Christian and challenging him to fight after he struck a female.

Mr. Bradford stated Mr. Christian entered his green Dodge Challenger and drove away but returned several minutes later. Upon returning, Mr. Christian allegedly opened the rear passenger door of Mr. Bradford’s vehicle and began striking Ms. [VICTIM #1] while she remained seated inside. Mr. Bradford exited the vehicle, and he and Mr. Christian began fighting.

Mr. Bradford further stated Mr. Christian picked up a grill from the front yard of [REDACTED] and repeatedly struck the passenger side and rear window of Mr. Bradford’s black Kia Optima, causing damage. Mr. Bradford admitted that, out of anger, he climbed onto the hood of Mr. Christian’s green Dodge Challenger and repeatedly kicked the front windshield, causing damage to that vehicle.

I next interviewed [VICTIM #1]. While speaking with Ms. [VICTIM #1], I detected an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her person. I also observed blood coming from her right ear and a large knot on her forehead. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that after arriving at [REDACTED], Mr. Christian began striking her while they were outside in the street. She stated Mr. Christian’s father, [WITNESS #1], was present during the incident. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she fled inside the residence, but Mr. Christian followed her inside and continued assaulting her until his father intervened and stopped him.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated that after she went inside the residence, she overheard Mr. Christian telling his father that he was going to retrieve the keys to another vehicle. She believed he only made that statement to get away from his father so he could continue assaulting her inside the residence. When asked where Mr. Bradford was during this time, Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated he was attempting to leave and drive to the Brunswick Police Department, located at 206 Mansfield Street, to report the incident. She stated Mr. Christian attempted to stop him by jumping into Mr. Bradford’s vehicle while it was still in motion.

I then interviewed [WITNESS #1], the father of Kade Christian. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he witnessed Ms. [VICTIM #1] strike Mr. Christian first by punching him in the face after chasing him around his vehicle. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he separated the two individuals. Mr. [WITNESS #1] further stated that Kade Christian later picked up a grill and repeatedly struck Mr. Bradford’s vehicle with it, causing damage. Mr. Bradford then retaliated by damaging Mr. Christian’s vehicle. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated Mr. Bradford grabbed Kade Christian by the front of his shirt, entered his vehicle, and began driving while Mr. Christian was still holding onto the vehicle, causing him to be dragged.

Mr. [WITNESS #1] further stated that at approximately 0535 hours, Mr. Christian contacted him because his vehicle had broken down on Glynn Avenue. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he brought gasoline to assist his son and advised him not to return home. Mr. Christian refused and stated he wanted to go home to retrieve another set of keys. Upon arriving back at [REDACTED], Mr. Bradford and Ms. [VICTIM #1] were present, and another argument began. Mr. [WITNESS #1] also stated Ms. [VICTIM #1] entered the residence, retrieved a frying pan, and struck Mr. Christian with it. He further stated that the 14-year-old juvenile became involved in the altercation.

I re-interviewed Ms. [VICTIM #1] regarding the events after everyone arrived at [REDACTED]. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she contacted [WITNESS #1] and asked him to come retrieve Kade Christian before he went to jail. She stated that when Mr. [WITNESS #1] arrived, Mr. Christian pushed his father out of the way and entered the residence to retrieve his keys. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Christian then pushed her inside the residence. When asked whether she became physical with Mr. Christian, Ms. [VICTIM #1] denied assaulting him and stated she was only attempting to run away to avoid being struck.

The 14-year-old juvenile was interviewed separately by Officer E. Wilson #407 with permission from her mother, Ms. [VICTIM #1]. The juvenile stated she witnessed Mr. Christian assault Ms. [VICTIM #1] inside the residence.

Due to Mr. Christian remaining highly upset and uncooperative, another officer conducted his interview. Based upon my investigation, witness statements, physical evidence, Ms. [VICTIM #1] visible injuries, the juvenile witness statement, and the damage sustained to both vehicles, I established probable cause for the following charges:

Kade Christian

Battery (Family Violence)
Cruelty to Children, Third Degree
Criminal Trespass (Damage Less Than $500)

Luke Bradford Jr.

Criminal Trespass (Damage Less Than $500)

Both individuals were placed in handcuffs, double locked, checked for proper fit, searched incident to arrest, and transported by myself and Officer L. Austin #483 to the Glynn County Detention Center, where they were turned over to jail staff without incident.

A case number and Victim Advocate pamphlet were provided to Ms. [VICTIM #1].
