[NARRATIVE #1 on December 24, 2025]

On Wednesday, December 24, 2025, I, Corporal Earl F. Wilson 407, was assigned to Brunswick Police (BPD) Patrol A-1. I was wearing a full BPD patrol uniform, equipped with a digital body-worn Axon camera. I was operating from clearly marked patrol truck 20-2.

At about 0017 hours, BPD and Brunswick Fire responded to a structure fire at [30 BLOCK] Hopkins Homes.

LOCATION DESCRIPTION: Brunswick Housing Authority apartment complex. The incident occurred at a two-story townhouse at the south end of a row of connected apartments.

On arrival, the fire was out. When we entered the apartment, Officers discovered the fire had been in the kitchen. I observed that the top of the stove was melted, and that clothing was on it. I also saw several garbage bags of clothing on the floor. The remains of a used fire extinguisher were on the floor. It appears the fire had been started after the clothing was piled on the stove and the stove was turned on.

SCENE DESCRIPTION: The kitchen is in the back of the unit, with an exit door. The stove is on the kitchen’s interior wall, which runs north to south. The exit door is on the opposite wall. A washer and dryer are on the south end exterior wall.

Based on overall statements, it would appear the following did occur. At the time of the fire, [VICTIM #1] and [VICTIM #2] were in the apartment. The lease holder is [VICTIM #3]. [VICTIM #1] is her daughter, and [VICTIM #2] is her son.

Investigation revealed that [VICTIM #3] was out of town. [VICTIM #1] essentially stated she was asleep in her mother’s room. [VICTIM #2] was in the living room playing video games with a neighbor, [REDACTED].

[REDACTED] left the apartment to get a different video game and left the door unlocked.

[VICTIM #1] stated she was awakened when someone jerked the covers off her. She said she then saw LAELEANOR THOMPSON in the room with Laeleanor’s toddler son. She stated they argued, and she told Laeleanor she was not supposed to be there. Laeleanor then went downstairs.

[VICTIM #2] stated he was sleeping on the couch, but woke when he felt someone pass by him into the kitchen. He stated he then heard LaeLeanor’s child in the kitchen. [VICTIM #2] stated that no one returned through the apartment’s living room. A moment later, smoke filled the apartment, and the stove fire was discovered. 911 was then called, and the fire was extinguished.

Both [VICTIM #2] and [VICTIM #1] stated they did not let LaeLeanor into the home. I spoke with a female by telephone who identified herself as [VICTIM #3]. She stated she was visiting friends in Columbus, GA, when her children called her. She stated she had a past relationship with LaeLeanor that was very unhealthy, with repeated violent arguments.

The investigation concludes that LaeLeanor violated “OCGA 16-7-21, Criminal Trespass” by entering the apartment without permission, then, when told to leave, did not immediately do so. LaeLeanor’s actions of going to her ex-girlfriend’s bedroom and pulling back the covers at about 0017 hours indicate an intention to confront another person and create a confrontation, therefore acting with an unlawful purpose.

The investigation concludes that LaeLeanor left the upstairs part of the apartment, went through the living room, and into the kitchen. She was never seen exiting the home, so the investigation concludes she left through the kitchen rear door. After she entered the kitchen, it appears she placed clothing on the stove and turned it on, causing a fire. The stove was damaged to the extent that it was not possible to recover evidence such as fingerprints.

LaeLeanor violated “OCGA 16-7-60 – Arson in the first degree” to wit “(a) A person (LAELEANOR) commits the offense of arson in the first degree when, by means of fire (CLOTHING PLACED ON STOVE WHICH WAS TURNED ON CREATING A FIRE) or explosive, he or she knowingly damages or knowingly causes, aids, abets, advises, encourages, hires, counsels, or procures another to damage: (5) Any building, vehicle, railroad car, watercraft, aircraft, or other structure under such circumstances that it is reasonably foreseeable that human life might be endangered ([VICTIM #2] AND [VICTIM #1] WERE KNOWN TO BE IN THE APARTMENT).”

During the investigation, LAELEANOR THOMPSON was identified as the suspect. A GCIC/NCIC query showed Laeleanor to have an outstanding BPD warrant for possession of Schedule II.

Warrant information as follows:

Warrant: Open criminal warrant
Original Charge: Possession Schedule II
Warrant number: 20251006
Original case number: 25BP25694
Date of warrant: 20251006
NIC number: W993119509
Date of entry: 20251006 1638
Date last update: 20251006 1641

At about 0101 hours, Laeleanor was located at her residence at [2400 BLOCK] Ellis Street. As the officers approached, we saw a figure clad all in black pushing a baby stroller. The figure then darted into the drive of [2400 BLOCK] Ellis. I had previously pulled a photograph of LaeLeanor using my mobile data terminal, and the person who walked into the drive appeared to be her.

When confronted, Laeleanor stated her name was “Tericka”. After a moment, her mother came outside, and when asked what Laeleanor’s name was, she stated her name was not Tericka. LaeLeanor was placed under arrest for giving a false name to law enforcement in violation of OCGA 16-10-25.

LaeLeanor was advised of her Miranda rights and agreed to speak with Officers. She admitted to going to Hopkins Homes but alleges that [VICTIM #3] had texted her and invited her over. She never showed Officers any texts. She stated that [VICTIM #3] was not out of town but was out with friends in Brunswick.

Laeleanor was arrested for an outstanding warrant (BPD CASE 25BP25694), Giving a False Name to law enforcement, and Arson. She was handcuffed behind her back and searched by Officer Macy 411. She was then seated in left rear of the patrol truck. Sergeant Yarborough 492 confirmed the warrant. Laeleanor was transported to the Glynn County Detention Center to be booked and lodged.

I read the warrant to Laeleanor and signed the service of the same. A booking form was prepared and presented to Detention Deputies. Laeleanor was released to the custody of the Sheriff.

A BPD Removal form was faxed to the Glynn-Brunswick 911 Center for removal.

Criminal warrants for the above charges were prepared and presented to the magistrate for approval.

[NARRATIVE #2 on December 24, 2025]

While enroute to [30 BLOCK] Hopkins Homes in reference to a structure fire (stove had been on fire but now out), I was traveling south in the 1000 block of Newcastle Street and found two juvenile males (later identified as [VICTIM #2] and [REDACTED]) running northbound. I asked the males why they were running. Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised he was going to get the person who set the fire. I asked Mr. [VICTIM #2] if it was the fire at Hopkins Homes, he advised yes.

Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised he was upstairs asleep and woke up to smelling smoke. Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised he went downstairs and discovered clothes burning on the stove. Mr. [VICTIM #2] stated she tried to kill us. Mr. [VICTIM #2] advised he does not know her name but she has been around the house before.

I advised Mr. [VICTIM #2] and Mr. [REDACTED] they needed to let us handle this, and transported them both back to Hopkins Homes.

Once at [30 BLOCK] Hopkins Homes, Brunswick Fire was placing a fan inside the residence to blow out the smoke.

A short time later, I responded to [2400 BLOCK] Ellis Street, where Cpl. Wilson was out with other Officers to locate the suspect from [30 BLOCK] Hopkins Homes a Ms. Leleanor Thompson. Ms. Thompson also had an active warrant with our Agency. I searched Ms. Thompson incident to arrest, all her property she had on her person (phone and wallet) was given to her mother (Unknown Name).
