This report documents the investigation into a hit-and-run that occurred at the intersection of Glass Circle and Canal Road at approximately 0712 on December 18th 2025. I responded to the scene alongside Officer Garland, my trainee, and made contact with the complainant, Lindsay Gay, to take a report. During this investigation, Lindsay was arrested for False Report of a Crime and Failure to Maintain Lane. An accident report has been submitted in gears as well.

Upon arriving at the scene, I made contact with Lindsay and her son, [REDACTED]. Lindsay provided her license and tag number, which I later verified through NCIC/GCIC. [REDACTED] provided his information as well. Lindsay identified herself as the driver. She had been driving a 2017 Volvo XC60. The vehicle’s tag was [REDACTED].

When I arrived at the scene, her vehicle was off the left-hand side of the road in the ditch. I could not see any visible damage, but the vehicle would not start. Both [REDACTED] and Lindsay reported that they did not need EMS and had no injuries. Lindsay requested Eastside Towing.

I interviewed Lindsay regarding the circumstances of the accident. Lindsay stated that she was driving southbound on Glass Circle towards the intersection with Canal Rd. A white Nissan Altima made a turn and entered her lane of travel northbound. To avoid a collision, Lindsay stated she swerved, crashing into the ditch on the left-hand side of the road.

Lindsay cannot remember anything distinguishing about the vehicle or the tag. She remains certain about the make and model. She described the driver as a white male with an exceptionally skinny build. However, she did not remember any other features. She stated that the passenger seat was occupied by a white female with blonde hair and a medium build.

After Lindsay wrecked into the ditch, she claimed that the white Nissan backed up onto Canal Rd and then drove northeast along Canal Rd towards the Dollar General. Lindsay did not know who the driver or passenger might be and did not recognise the car.

I spoke briefly with [REDACTED] about the accident, but he said he wasn’t paying attention and wasn’t certain what happened. I spoke with Lindsay about what happened, and she said they were arguing when the accident occurred, which is why neither of them remembered many details. I did not observe any indicators from Lindsay or [REDACTED] of intoxication.

While awaiting the tow truck’s arrival, I checked the surrounding flock cameras for white Nissan Altimas that had been operating in the area near the crash. Lindsay had reported the accident at 0716. She estimated it had taken about 5 minutes to report the accident to dispatch. The closest returns I had were between 10 and 20 minutes before the accident from Altama and Trade Street, and the Chapel Crossing Rd and SPUR 25. Neither tag returned to a white male nor a white female who matched the passenger’s description.

Eastside towing arrived on scene, and I closed down the Glass Circle while the recovery took place. After recovery was complete, I provided Lindsay with a case card and informed her of the timeline for receiving both the incident and accident reports.

After concluding operations at the scene, I conducted a follow-up at 940 Canal Road (G25-78413) to check for camera footage. This was the Dollar General mentioned by Lindsay. I contacted the manager, who allowed me to review the footage from that morning. 07:16:39 A white sedan passed in front of the Dollar General. The body type is consistent with Altima, but due to the distance and quality of the footage, I was not certain. Images of the vehicle and time have been uploaded to evidence.com.

I conducted another follow-up (G25-78470) at the Hang Out, 36 Canal Rd Plaza. There was a camera facing the traffic circle at Glenco Parkway and Harry Driggers. Due to the camera’s angle, the recording only captures the eastern side of the traffic circle. I reviewed the camera footage between 07:16 and 07:20. During this time, I observed three white sedans that may match the description. Because of the camera angle, I could not tell which road each vehicle was coming from. Images of the vehicles and times have been uploaded to evidence.com.

I got out at 515 Gateway Centre Blvd, Swifty Car Wash (G25-78482). There was a camera on the rear of the store that covered Glass Circle as it approached the intersection with Canal Road. I watched the recorded footage between 0710 and 0725. Lindsay’s silver Volvo SUV enters the frame at approximately 0711.

While in frame, it slowly drifts from the right-hand side of the road to the left-hand side, then continues off the roadway until leaving the frame. The vehicle is traveling at a low speed, and the angle at which it leaves the roadway is gradual. The driver had the opportunity to stop based on these conditions. The vehicle leaves the camera’s frame just before crashing into the ditch’s end. There is no sudden change in direction or jerk that causes the accident. Instead, the vehicle enters the frame on the correct side of the road and slowly drifts right to left until it leaves the roadway.

Before I arrived at the scene, the only vehicle that drove up Glass Circle was a garbage truck. Lindsay had claimed that the offending vehicle had driven onto Glass Circle and then backed out onto Canal. However, a white Nissan Altima never appeared in the camera footage.

I reviewed my body camera footage from the accident after seeing it. I noted that Lindsay’s had crashed at a very acute angle and was almost perpendicular to the roadway. This is inconsistent with her testimony that she made a hard turn at the last minute to avoid a crash. It is consistent with the video footage, which shows her gradually driving off the roadway.

I went to [200 BLOCK] Glass Circle on the afternoon of the 18th (G25-78498). I wanted to speak with Lindsay about the disparities between her statement and the footage. She was not home.

I returned at 0640 on December 19th (G25-78584). I was able to make contact with Lindsay. I asked her to tell me again what happened during the accident. Once more, she told me that she had been driving in her own lane and was one car length away from the intersection when a white Nissan Altima pulled onto Glass Circle, using her lane. To avoid a collision. She jerked the wheel, crossing the opposite lane and crashing into the ditch on the far side of the road.

I showed Lindsay the video footage of her vehicle leaving the roadway well before approaching the intersection and continuing along the road’s ditch until it drove off-screen. I then showed her the still image I took from the video footage from Swifty’s, which shows she was already on the wrong side of the road when she was approximately 8 to 10 car lengths from the intersection.

I also informed her that I watched all the footage of her entering the roadway on Glass Circle at 0711 until my arrival at 0725, and the only other vehicle to drive on Glass Circle during that time was a blue garbage truck. Despite the evidence, Lindsay did not change her story.

I placed Lindsay Gay under arrest for the following:

False Report of a Crime under OCGA 16-10-26 for knowingly falsely reporting that a crime (hit and run) was committed. This charge is based on the accused’s claims that a crime was committed, on the security camera footage showing she was driving off the roadway prior to the accident, and the angle at which I found her car when I arrived on scene.

Failure to Maintain Lane under OCGA 40-6-48 for failing to maintain lane while on a public roadway. This charge is based on security camera footage showing her vehicle driving on the wrong side of the road and then leaving the road. The accused repeatedly identified herself as the driver.

I cuffed Lindsay behind the back, checked the cuffs for fit, and double-locked them. I placed her in the back of my patrol car and secured her with a seatbelt. I transported her to the Glynn County jail, where I booked her for the above-stated charges. I issued a citation for Failure to Maintain Lane at the jail, and I will submit a warrant for False Report of a Crime.
