[NARRATIVE #1 on December 22, 2025]

On the above date I made contact with [WITNESS #1] in the lobby area. Mr. [WITNESS #1] was visably distraught. Mr. [WITNESS #1] explained he was upset about his mother [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1] being abused by his brother Rufus Eason Jr. Mr. R. Eason is Mrs. [VICTIM #1]’s care taker. Mr. [WITNESS #1] had a lot of concerns after talking to his mothers nurse [REDACTED] and seeing some pictures and videos. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated, he talked [REDACTED] and she stated to him his mother had bruises on her and sent pictures as well as videos.

I arrived at [REDACTED BY AGENCY] to do a welfare check on Mrs. [VICTIM #1]. Upon me knocking at the front door a black male came from around the back of the residence. I asked the black male was Mrs. [VICTIM #1] home and could I speak to her. The male who was identified as Rufus Eason Jr. stated, his mother was taking a nap. He would not let me speak to or check the welfare of his mother.

I got back inside of my vehicle an spoke to a supervisor. Based on the evidence that I was shown from Mr. [WITNESS #1], I placed Mr. R. Eason under arrest. He was placed in handcuffs that were double locked and checked for tightness. He was searched incident to arrest with negative findings and placed in the back seat of my patrol vehicle that was checked before and after he got out. He was charged with Elder Abuse and released to the jail staff.

Upon my leaving the jail [WITNESS #2] which is Mrs. [VICTIM #1]’ son was meeting me back at the residence. Upon my arrival Mr. [WITNESS #2] met me outside, I asked if I could speak to his mother and he led me inside the residence. I asked Mr. [WITNESS #2] and his daughter [REDACTED] if they could step outside so I could privately speak to Mrs. [VICTIM #1].

While speaking to Mrs. [VICTIM #1] I noticed that she appeared to maybe have dementia. Some of the questions I asked her were:

  1. How are you feeling? She stated, she was doing good.
  2. Are you safe here? She stated, she was safe.
  3. Has anyone been putting their hands on you? She stated, no.
  4. What happened to your face? She stated, she hit it on a door.
  5. What did you eat today? She stated, she ate breakfast, but had not eaten dinner yet.
  6. Has anyone been being mean to you? She stated, no one has been mean to her.

I met Mr. [WITNESS #2] outside and asked him does anyone have a Power of Attorney for Mrs. [VICTIM #1]. He stated, he has one, I asked to see his paperwork. Mr. [WITNESS #2] got an envelope for his vehicle that had some papers in it, and he allowed me to read over them. After reading this paperwork I stated, to him that it was not a Power of Attorney. The paperwork in which he gave me was a Will that his mother wrote as to what she was leaving her children when she passes away.

I also asked Mr. [WITNESS #2] about the visable bruise on his mothers face, he stated, she fell on the floor. When I asked him how would she have fallen if she can only walked while being assisted, he did not completely answer the question. I also asked Mr. [WITNESS #2] how often he visits his mother, he stated, he comes over every other day.

I asked him did he think his brother Rufus put his hands on their mother, he stated, that would never happened. I stated to him how would he know for sure if he is not always around. He stated, his brother would not put hands on his mother. I gathered Mr. [WITNESS #2]’ personal information and left the residence.

After leaving the residence, I went to the Glynn County Detention Center and released Mr. Eason. My decision to released him was based upon having two different stories as to what was going on with Mrs. [VICTIM #1]. Mr. [WITNESS #1] had already put in a report with The Area of Aging office, I also called and gave them a report as well.

[NARRATIVE #2 on December 22, 2025]

On the above date I Pfc. Stogner #450 responded to [REDACTED BY AGENCY] in reference to this case. Upon arrival myself and Cpl. Walker #420 made contact with APS and then attempted to make contact with [VICTIM #1] through the back door of the residence.

After knocking on the back door, windows and front door continuously we eventually made contact with [VICTIM #1]’s granddaughter who advised she was getting [VICTIM #1] ready and had to put the dog away before we came inside the residence to see [VICTIM #1].

[VICTIM #1]’s granddaughter advised APS and officers that she would be recording everything for her attorney and also advised that [VICTIM #1] had dementia and would not be able to remember anything and that her brain was like talking to a child. She stated that [VICTIM #1]’s dementia was so bad that she would sign her signature anymore and she could not remember anything.

[VICTIM #1]’s granddaughter eventually allowed APS to speak to [VICTIM #1] privately in which myself and other officers left the inside of the residence and stood outside in the carport until APS was finished. [VICTIM #1]’s granddaughter went into the kitchen that had a blanket as a divider of where [VICTIM #1] sat with APS when speaking to her, so that she could still listen but not see.
