On the above date and time, I, Officer Acevedo, responded to 206 Mansfield Street, Brunswick Police Department, in reference to a problem person.
Upon arrival, I made contact with Shardaeijah Nashea Rawls. She stated that she had gone to a business and threw a flower pot, and broke it out of anger and madness. She also stated that she had vandalized businesses. Shardaeijah expressed to me that she wanted to go “See the judge” and expressed that she wanted to go to jail. The TAC Officer, Ms. Lela, had run her name through GCIC/NCIC and saw that she had no warrants. Shardaeijah stated that she had violated her probation and had not followed any of the rules probation had given her.
I called Glynn County EMS due to Shardaeijah stating that “You gonna have to take me or kill me” and “You gonna have to put a bullet through the head.” She was not transported to the Southeast Georgia Health System. Shardaeijah started to scream and cuss. She was then placed in handcuffs for disorderly conduct by Officer Myers. She was then speaken to by Officer Myers, but she continued to scream and cuss. I called Gateway Behavioral Center to see if Shardaeijah would be able to come, due to her stating that she would go to Gateway. I advised Shardaeijah that they would accept her if she would go voluntarily, but she did not want to go. Shardaeijah still wanted to go to jail.
Officer Myers and Cpl. Wright called her probation officer. Officer Crew stated that at the point in time, he could not do anything due to Waycross having to be contacted to issue a probation violation warrant. They advised us to use our discretion and, if she was going to jail, to advise them so they could contact Waycross to issue a warrant for probation violation.
Based on all the factors, Shardaeijah was kept in handcuffs and written a citation for City Municipal Code 16-22, Disorderly Conduct. The factors were that Shardaeijah continued to raise her voice to where I could hear it from inside the control access for officers. She also stated, “You gonna have to take me or kill me” and “You gonna have to put a bullet through the head.” Additional factors are that she admitted that, out of anger and madness, she broke a plant from a business and vandalized a business. She also stated that if she was let go and not taken to jail, she would continue to commit crimes. While talking to her, based on all the factors, I felt Shardaeijah would harm another officer to go to jail with or without handcuffs.
Shardaeijah was transported to the Glynn County Detention Center where an arrest and booking were completed. Shardaeijah also signed her ticket for disorderly conduct. She was transferred over to jail staff for further booking.
