On November 16th, 2025, while patrolling the area of Scranton Road and Scranton Connector I observed vehicle debris on the roadway in the middle of the intersection. While driving by, I was flagged down by a pedestrian who advised that he had been involved in an accident.
I observed a red vehicle, a Hyundai Tucson, on the side of the road in hedges on Lansing Street. The vehicle appeared to be disabled with extensive rear end damage. The other involved vehicle was not on scene. Bystanders on scene advised that they did not witness the collision or the offending vehicle, but heard the other vehicle speeding away.
I requested EMS after speaking with both occupants, Stacy Reed and [REDACTED], of the red vehicle, who appeared with minor superficial injuries. I found dark gray colored vehicle debris along with red colored vehicle debris. Other officers on scene found an “M” emblem in the area of the collision, which was consistent with a GMC logo. Other officers on scene assisted in identifying the vehicle as a pickup truck.
A fluid leakage trail was observed on the roadway heading down Lansing Street. The trail was followed from Lansing Street, North Goodbread Road, Chapel Crossing Road, Spur 25, and I-95 North at Exit 38. Vehicle information was passed along to McIntosh County due to the fluid trail heading northbound on I-95. Ms. Reed and Mr. [REDACTED] were transported to the Southeast Georgia Regional Medical Center for medical treatment and evaluation.
The McIntosh County Sheriff’s Office advised the Glynn County 911 Center that they identified a gray GMC pickup truck matching the description provided as involved in a single vehicle accident just over the county line. I went to the scene of that accident and inspected the suspected vehicle. I observed it was a dark gray GMC Sierra with extensive front end damage. The vehicle was off of the roadway in the marsh, stopped in the brush. The front end damage of the GMC truck was consistent with the damage found on the rear end of the red Hyundai Tucson.
I also observed multiple points of red painted drag marks and red paint chips on the front end of the GMC pickup truck. I spoke with Sergeant Payne, a Mcintosh County Deputy at the scene, who advised that they identified the driver of the truck, Stacy Reed, and placed him under arrest for driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident in their jurisdiction. The vehicle was towed away in McIntosh County. I was provided the following case number for the McIntosh County accident: 2025-11-28124.
Given the matching vehicle description, red paint found on the GMC truck, and the vehicle’s direction of travel, I suspect that this vehicle and its driver are involved in this hit and run. I intend to follow up with the owner of Breezy’s Bistro and the surrounding businesses in regard to surveillance footage of the parking lot in the time period just prior to the accident.
I will follow up with the injured parties as well to determine the full extent of injuries. Accident photos were taken and have been uploaded to Evidence.com. An accident report has been completed and is available through GEARS.
