I Officer Smith on 06/13/2026 responded to 2432 Newcastle Street (Danny’s Corner) in reference to a child abuse. Upon arrival, I made contact with [VICTIM #1] (Victim) who informed that Tessa Middleton (Girlfriend of Son) had attacked her.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] informed me that Tessa and her son [WITNESS #1] had fled from the scene, I was advised by a bystander that they ran North on Newcastle Street Lane and were seen on P street. I transmitted this information via radio to officers en route to the area. The bystander that advised me which way Tessa and [WITNESS #1] went then produce a black key fob and stated they gave this to me which was later identified as the key for Ms. [VICTIM #1]’s 2014 Ford Explorer #[REDACTED].

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated when she parked in the parking lot of Danny’s Corner, she went to get the [REDACTED] (Infant) out of the car seat and once she went to release the second buckle of the car seat, Tessa then began grabbing her and hitting her inside the vehicle. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated shortly after she went into Danny’s Corner with [REDACTED] and [WITNESS #1] came inside to check on her before departing the scene with Tessa.

I observed 6 lacerations with slight bleeding on the left wrist and 1 laceration with slight bleeding on the right Wrist of Ms. [VICTIM #1]. While Ms. [VICTIM #1] was speaking to me, I observed blood on the back of [REDACTED]’s Clothing where Ms. [VICTIM #1] had been holding him. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Tessa took her bag from the vehicle containing her cell phone and [WITNESS #2]’s cell phone.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she was taking the kids and [WITNESS #1] back to Connecticut and Tessa did not want them to leave causing an altercation between Tessa and Ms. [VICTIM #1]. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Tessa has lived with her in June of 2025 making This FVA. Shortly after Officers identified Tessa and [WITNESS #1] walking on the [REDACTED] and got out to make contact with them. I eventually arrived at [REDACTED] and spoke with [WITNESS #1].

[WITNESS #1] stated he told his mother [VICTIM #1] to take him and Tessa to the homeless shelter because she told him they could not come with her to Connecticut. [WITNESS #1] stated Tessa asked for a bottle for [REDACTED] and Ms. [VICTIM #1] became verbally aggressive with Tessa and they began arguing. [WITNESS #1] stated his Mother Ms. [VICTIM #1] began saying they could not take the baby.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she had temporary sole custody of [REDACTED] through a court in Reidsville but did not produce any court documents at this time proving this claim. When I asked [WITNESS #1] if Ms. [VICTIM #1] had custody of [REDACTED] he replied to an extent but did not emphasize any further on the topic. When I asked [WITNESS #1] how Ms. [VICTIM #1] got the scratches to her wrist he replied “That’s probably from when they were pulling on each other”.

I then went and spoke to Tessa who was located on the side of [REDACTED]. I asked Tessa what injuries she had and she replied “None”. Tessa stated she had been arguing with Ms. [VICTIM #1] due to them being undecided if she was going to leave with them today for Connecticut or if she was going to fly out at a later date. Ms. Middleton stated they didn’t want Tessa to go with them to Connecticut, But [WITNESS #1] wanted Tessa to go with him and due to the delay on making a decision Ms. [VICTIM #1] became agitated.

Ms. Middleton stated when she was trying to remove [REDACTED] from the car seat, Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated “No you aren’t taking him and they became engaged in a physical altercation. when I asked Ms. Middleton how Ms. [VICTIM #1] got the scratches on her wrist she replied “That’s probably when we were grabbing each other”.

I then placed Ms. Middleton in handcuffs, Double locked and check for tightness and advised her she was under arrest for Battery Fva (16-5-23.1) and 3 counts of Cruelty to Children 3rd Degree (16-5-70) for committing Battery in the presence of [REDACTED], [WITNESS #2] and [WITNESS #3]. I then performed a search of Ms. Middleton with the back of my hand for weapons or contraband before placing her inside my patrol vehicle.

Ms. Middleton was then transported to the CDC where she was released to CDC Staff. A Abis and Sovi Form were completed and Ms. [VICTIM #1] was provided a Case number and Victims Bill of Rights. Camera Footage from Danny’s Corner was recorded with my body camera and attached to this case number.
