[NARRATIVE #1 on September 08, 2025]

On 9/8/2025 I Cpl Pina responded to 300 Glynn Isles “Lowes” in reference to a two vehicle collision. Upon arrival, I observed V2 parked in the parking lot across the street from 300 Glynn Isles. I observed minor damage to the rear bumper of V2.

I then spoke with D2 who had stated they were traveling through the parking lot of “Lowes” when V1 decided to drive aggressively by following to close and following the vehicle through out the parking lot. V1 during the incident then made contact with the rear of V2 and then fled the scene of the collision.

Witness 1 come to the scene and began informing me of V1 following V2 through the parking lot of Lowes and intentionally made contact with V2 before leaving the scene. My investigation indicates V1 to be at fault due to V1’s aggressive driving which caused the two vehicle collision.

[NARRATIVE #2 on September 08, 2025]

On above date and time, I Cpl Pina responded to 300 Glynn Isles “Lowes” in reference to a two vehicle collision.

Once on scene, I began speaking with [VICTIM #1], the victim, who had stated her mother’s ex boyfriend had been following her in her mother’s vehicle. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated they had been in a nearby neighborhood when Thaddies Ates was asked to leave the residence. While at the residence, Mr. Ates had been drinking through out the day.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she had began driving her mother’s vehicle with her children in the vehicle which is when Mr. Ates had gotten behind her and began following her. Ms. [VICTIM #1] turned into the Glynn Isles and called 911 which is when Mr. Ates began driving aggressive by chasing her in the vehicle and attempting to her the vehicle with his vehicle.

Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated Mr. Ates did make contact with the vehicle which was also witnessed by several individuals in the parking lot. Ms. [VICTIM #1] stated she then parked by Buffalo Wild Wings which is when he then sped out of the parking lot and left the scene before officers arrived.

While speaking to Ms. [VICTIM #1], a witness who was later identified as [WITNESS #1], walked up and began stating he observed the incident happen over by Lowes. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated he was parked sitting in his vehicle when he observed a white SUV trying to get away while another vehicle followed behind the white SUV attempting to hit the vehicle with their vehicle. Mr. [WITNESS #1] stated contact was made between the vehicles which is then when the other vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived.

During the time of this report, I am awaiting camera footage from Lowes. Warrants for Mr. Ates are being sought at this time.

[NARRATIVE #3 on September 13, 2025]

On above date and time, I Cpl Pina was notifed by dispatch of a follow up call pending for me due to myself being the investigating officer. The individual wanting a follow up was Thaddeus Ates who informed me that he was advised he was involved in a Hit & Run accident when he was not.

I then asked Mr. Ates what had transpired to which is informed me that he and her ([REDACTED], vehicle owner of v2) had gotten into it which is when she had gotten out of the vehicle and hit the hood of his truck which is when she then got into her vehicle and he then began following her in his vehicle. Mr. Ates stated he had not done anything to her vehicle during the incident.

I asked Mr. Ates if he knew of Ms. [REDACTED] daughter being in the vehicle to which he then stated he did not know she was in the vehicle with her. I then informed Mr. Ates Ms. [REDACTED] had not been in the vehicle but had been her daughter, [VICTIM #1], along with her two children.

Mr. Ates then continued to deny any claims of him being involved in a hit & run. I advised Mr. Ates that I was still investigating the incident. Mr. Ates had informed me his vehicle was at his residence at [2300 BLOCK] Ellis St.

Shortly after, I then made my way to Mr. Ates’ residence where I was able to locate his vehicle. I was unable to locate any visible damage to the vehicle. I was able to obtain vehicle information. While speaking on the phone, Mr. Ates did confirm he had been driving his Honda Pilot the day of the incident and had placed himself at the scene.

I was then able to update the crash report with the updated information on the case. Warrants at this time will be issued for Hit & Run, Aggressive Driving, Reckless Driving and Violation of a CP license.

[NARRATIVE #4 on January 13, 2026]

On January 13, 2026, I (PFC K Jenkins #429) was conducting a routine patrol in my assigned zones 2 and zone 3. I observed a white Honda SUV traveling south bound on Ellis St, approaching the intersection of J St. The intersection had a stop sign displayed for north and south bound lane of travel. The Honda failed to come to a complete stop at the at/near the intersection and made a left turn on to J St (eastbound). The Honda was in violation of OCGA 40-6-72(b).

I turned on my emergency lights, initiating my traffic stop. After gathering the drivers information, it was checked through SERVICE. SERVICE advised that the driver, Thaddeus Ates, had three Aggravated Assault warrants out of the Brunswick Police Department.

Around this time, OFC DeBruijn, who arrived on scene as back-up, deployed her K-9 Narco; having him on standby. This is due to alerts, from the Glynn County Police Department, of Thaddeus making threats towards police. For the most part, Thaddeus was compliant as I removed him from the vehicle and immediately placed him in handcuffs, with the assistance of OFC Boatright.

The handcuffs were double locked and checked for tightness. A search incident to the arrest was conducted and Thaddeus was placed into the rear of my patrol vehicle 19-2. Per his request, Thaddeus called for a friend to pick up his vehicle. CPL Pina confirmed the warrants and brought them to me on scene. I transported Thaddeus to the Glynn County Detention Center (CDC). CPL Pina stayed on scene until Thaddeus friend removed the vehicle.

OFC Debruijn served the following warrants:

Charge OCGA M/F Warrant #
Aggravated Assault 16-5-21 F 250910400
Aggravated Assault 16-5-21 F 250910401
Aggravated Assault 16-5-21 F 250910402
Hit & Run 40-6-270 M 250918402
Reckless Driving 40-6-390 M 250918403
Instruction Permit 40-5-24 M 250918404
Aggressive Driving 40-6-397 M 250918405

OFC DeBruijn also read Miranda Rights to Thaddeus who understood and agreed to questioning. An ABIS and SOVI was completed. Thaddeus was released to the custody of the CDC. NCIC/GCIC removal pending.

This case is linked to 25BP22993 (Assault) and 26BP01207 (Warrant Process).
