On 9/23/24 I responded to the area of 106 Harrison Ln; Moonshiners in reference to Shots Fired. Before arriving, dispatch notified units the initial caller stated their were multiple individuals fighting in the middle of the road. When I arrived, I observed multiple individuals on scene who had appeared to had previously been engaged in a physical altercation with one person stating somebody ran.

The first individual I made contact with was a black female identified as [VICTIM #1] sitting on the ground. [VICTIM #1] appeared to be extremely intoxicated. Before speaking to her I observed a black male wearing a blue shirt identified as Kendrick Taylor, walking from the wood line to my right. I asked [VICTIM #1] what events had occurred, she stated she was defending her friend who was identified as Tynekia Nelson. [VICTIM #1] stated she was punched by a male who had ran toward the woods to our immediate right and advised she did not know that male. I asked [VICTIM #1] for the clothing description of the male, however [VICTIM #1] stated she was intoxicated.

During that time, I observed Kendrick Taylor coming from that area. [VICTIM #1] advised she was either in the passenger seat or the backseat of a white 2016 Honda Civic (GA [REDACTED]). [VICTIM #1] was asked if she heard any shots, she advised there we approximately 2-3 shots fired possibly in the air. At that time, that concluded my interview with [VICTIM #1]. While attempting to retrieve information from individuals on scene, I observed Taylor holding the left side of his stomach in pain. While attempting, to examine Taylor I observed blood on his shorts coming from his left hand. Taylor stated he knew nothing about shots being fired.

During an initial canvas white waiting for additional units, I was unable to locate shell casings in the immediate area. I did locate two small clear baggies with a green leafy substance consistent with marijuana inside of it beside a gray 2016 Nissan Altima (GA [REDACTED]). Due to the potential flight risk and possible involvement in the investigation all parties on scene were advised they were being detained to control the scene. I advised Kendrick to turn around place his hands behind his back. Kendrick began to become uncooperative by tensing his arms and not allowing officers to secure his hands in handcuffs. Taylor was advised to relax multiple times and put his hands behind his back. Once Taylor was secured in handcuffs and double locked he was assisted back to his feet and escorted to my patrol car. While being escorted Taylor dropped his entire body to the ground preventing officers to physically move his body. I activated my rear seat patrol vehicle camera once Taylor was placed inside. I advised Taylor I would be back at a later time to speak with him. While closing the door, at a slow even pace I heard Taylor begin to scream. Taylor stated I slammed the door on his left foot. An ambulance was called to the scene per Taylor’s request.

I relocated to the white Honda Civic (GA [REDACTED]) to perform a search which was identified as Tynekia’s vehicle. While searching, I observed a metal thermos located in the center console containing a blue in color liquid substance. The odor of alcohol could be smelled coming from the cup. I did not locate any other contraband inside the vehicle. I did locate a gold bracelet in the driver side rear passenger seat. Outside of the vehicle officers located a bullet hole on the left side of the trunk. We were unable to locate the projectile inside of it. However, when attempting to locate it I observed paint chippings falling onto the back window.

Ofc. Padgett then advised while performing a search of the area he located 1 spent 9mm Luger Hornady shell casing. That shell casing was secured in a envelope and placed in my patrol vehicle. Ofc. Sarti and Det. Rusch advised they would be relocating to the Georgia Southeast Health System with Taylor.

I conducted an interview with a black female identified as [REDACTED]. Prior to asking any questions, [REDACTED] was read her Miranda Warning. [REDACTED] stated she understood her rights and agreed to speak to me. [REDACTED] stated she was a passenger in the backseat of Tynekia’s Honda Civic driving eastbound on Scranton Rd from Old Jesup Rd. She stated she did not know the other occupants inside the gray Nissan Altima. [REDACTED] initially stated she was unaware of any shots being fired, but after further questioning she stated she did hear a gunshot. [REDACTED] stated she didn’t know where it came from. When the shot initially happened her vehicle stopped and all occupants exited the vehicle just prior to officers arriving on scene. [REDACTED] stated she did not see anybody on scene with a gun. This concluded my interview with [REDACTED]. It was ultimately decided to release [REDACTED] from the scene.

I was advised a Gun Residue Kit was going to be sent to the hospital to be tested on Taylor. While on scene, a black male later identified as [REDACTED] arrived on scene who stated he was a passenger in the white Honda Civic but left prior to officers arrival. Ofc. Henderson obtained a statement from [REDACTED]. I was advised Big Bear Towing was picking up the grey Nissan Altima and Dependable Towing was picking up the Honda Civic due to Tynekia being arrested for DUI Less Safe.

Based off witness statements gathered by officers on scene, Taylor was arrested for Aggravated Assault OCGA 16-5-21 x5, Probation Violation (Warrant), and Possession of Firearm by a Convicted Felon after a Criminal History was collected. Taylor was convicted of Aggravated Assault on 10-15-2018 in Glynn County Superior Court. I submitted the shell casing and the two clear baggies of green leafy substances into evidence. Tony Marshall was charged with 5 counts of Parties to the Crime of Aggravated Assault due to being inside the offending vehicle (Nissan Altima).
