Gordon County (December 27, 2022) – Deputies responded to a domestic call between two roommates when a man stole his roommate’s vehicle and intentionally crashed head-on into a first-responding Gordon County Sheriff’s deputy after the two argued over why the man had not been working. The man later head-butted and spat on officers and had to be sedated at the hospital.

According to Gordon County officials, Justin Marshall became irate when his roommate confronted him about why he had not gone to work for a week. They said Marshall hit his roommate in the face with an object, threw a beer at him, and threw pliers at the roommate’s car, damaging the windshield.

Marshall then locked his roommate out of the house and said he would leave if he gave him his keys. Marshall then held the keys to his roommate’s throat and said he was taking his car.

Dispatch communicated to responding deputies that Marshall had left the scene in a red Nissan Rogue. The first deputy to arrive encountered the vehicle when he turned onto the street.

Marshall then accelerated and maneuvered the vehicle to intentionally strike the responding deputy, who notified 911 that Marshall had hit him head-on. The deputy did not suffer serious injury.

Additional deputies arrived and placed Marshall into custody. His roommate told deputies he heard Marshall intentionally rev up the engine before driving toward the deputy’s vehicle.

While attempting to get a room for Marshall at Advent Health Gordon Hospital, Marshall became irate and spat in the deputy’s face. While the deputy continued to look for a room, Marshall head-butted and spat on the deputy again.

Medical staff sedated Marshall, who was later transported to the Gordon County Detention Center. Marshall was charged with more than a dozen offenses, including aggravated assault, battery, disorderly conduct, driving under the influence, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, obstruction of an officer, simple battery of a peace officer, and felony theft by taking.
