On Thursday, December 18, 2025, at 0159 hours, DEPUTY C. L HILES with the Gordon County Sheriff’s Office Uniform Patrol Division was dispatched to [100 BLOCK] PEACHTREE LN, CALHOUN, GORDON COUNTY, GEORGIA, in reference to a physical domestic altercation.

Upon arrival, DEPUTY HILES made contact with a male subject identified as JAMES CHRISTOPHER HOWELL. DEPUTY HILES began speaking with MR. HOWELL and asked what had occurred. MR. HOWELL stated that himself, his domestic partner a female subject identified as [WITNESS #1], [JUVENILE #1], and other juveniles where in the living room discussing a family vacation they were planning on taking soon.

MR. HOWELL stated that an argument had sparked and he stated he was no longer going. MR. HOWELL then stated the younger children began intentionally dancing around him wiliest he was attempting to sleep. MR. HOWELL then stated that [JUVENILE #1] had squirted a small amount of water on him and he physically slapped the syringe out of her hand and made contact physical with [JUVENILE #1] in her right arm bicep area.

MR. HOWELL stated that he did not intentionally hit [JUVENILE #1] in her right arm bicep area. DEPUTY HILES then made contact with MS. [WITNESS #1] and [JUVENILE #1]. MS. [WITNESS #1] stated that everyone was in the living room discussing the family vacation that MR. HOWELL had mentioned. While talking about this, MS. [WITNESS #1] stated that MR. HOWELL became irate and stated that he was not going anymore.

MS. [WITNESS #1] stated that [JUVENILE #1] had taken a small syringe and squirted MR. HOWELL with water. MS. [WITNESS #1] then went on to state that MR. HOWELL physically slapped the syringe out of [JUVENILE #1]’s hand. MS. [WITNESS #1] then stated that after MR. HOWELL had slapped the syringe out of [JUVENILE #1]’s had, MR. HOWELL raised his hand very far behind him and struck [JUVENILE #1] in the right arm, bicep area very violently, so much so that [JUVENILE #1] fell into the treadmill on the floor of the living room.

[JUVENILE #1] stated that MR. HOWELL was calling her names such as : CU*T, FAT, BIT*H, and MOTHERFU*KER and after did in fact get irate after she squirted him with water, and struck her so hard she fell into the treadmill.

DEPUTY HILES then placed MR. HOWELL under arrest for CRUELTY TO CHILDREN IN THE FIRST DEGREE and SIMPLE BATTERY (FVA). DEPUTY HILES then transported MR. HOWELL to the Gordon County Jail and turned him over to jail staff without any further incident.

DEPUTY HILES collected witness statements from MS. [WITNESS #1] and [JUVENILE #1].
